On determinant of certain pentadiagonal matrix [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, using the LU factorization, the relation between the determinant of a certain pentadiagonal matrix and the determinant of a corresponding tridiagonal matrix will be derived.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

The coherence between PSMC6 and α-ring in the 26S proteasome is associated with Alzheimer’s disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a heterogeneous age-dependent neurodegenerative disorder. Its hallmarks involve abnormal proteostasis, which triggers proteotoxicity and induces neuronal dysfunction.

Determinant morphism for singular varieties

open access: yes, 2023
Let $X$ be a projective variety (possibly singular) over an algebraically closed field of any characteristic and $\mathcal{F}$ be a coherent sheaf.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Determinant Theory of Quadri-Partitioned Neutrosophic Fuzzy Matrices and its Application to Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Problems [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
We propose a refined method to compute the determinant of matrices with a higher number of rows and columns. Furthermore, an algorithm is developed to address decision-making problems based on QPNFMs.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A note on a bivariate Leonardo sequence [PDF]

open access: yesNotes on Number Theory and Discrete Mathematics
Recently, quite a few generalizations of Leonardo numbers have emerged in the literature. In this short note, we propose a new bivariate extension and provide its generating function.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The sigma-determinant and Quillen determinant for a Dirac operator on a manifold with boundary

open access: yes, 2000
Let D denote a Dirac operator on a compact odd-dimensional manifold M with boundary Y. The elliptic boundary value problem D-P is the operator D with domain determined by a boundary condition P from the smooth self-adjoint Grassmannian Gr(infinity*)(D ...
