About measuring the stress intensity factor of cracks in curved, brittle shells

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity
Most techniques of measuring the stress intensity factor (SIF) in the cracking process assume a crack in a planar medium. Currently, there is no effective approach for curved brittle shells, particularly for non-developable cases, i.e., shapes with non ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Interactive Modeling of Developable Surfaces

open access: yes, 2016
Developable surfaces can be mapped into the plane without distortion and thus represent shapes obtainable with thin materials which do not stretch.

Modeling developable surfaces from arbitrary boundary curves

open access: yes, 2007
Developable surfaces are surfaces that can be unfolded into the plane with no distortion. Although ubiquitous in our everyday surroundings, there is currently no easy way to model them on a computer. This thesis fills this void by presenting a general

Designing Developable Mechanisms on Conical and Cylindrical Developable Surfaces

open access: yes, 2020
The research results presented in this thesis provide tools and methods to aid in the design of developable mechanisms. This work will help engineers design compact mechanisms onto developable surfaces, making it possible for them to be used in future ...

Dev2PQ: Planar Quadrilateral Strip Remeshing of Developable Surfaces

open access: yes, 2021
We introduce an algorithm to remesh meshes representing developable surfaces to planar quad dominant meshes. The output of our algorithm consists of planar quadrilateral (PQ) strips aligned to principal curvature directions and closely approximating the ...

Developable Surfaces: Properties, Representations and Methods of Design

open access: yes, 1992
v, 34 p.General Motors is interested in designing developable surfaces using computers. A developable surface is one that can be formed by bending a sheet of thin planar material.
