Using backlight intensity for device identification

2006 IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality, 2006
This paper presents a method for identifying handheld devices (e.g. smart phones and pocket PCs) to facilitate the use of these devices as tangible interfaces for desktop augmented reality systems. The proposed system leverages the ability of these handheld devices to programmatically control their backlight intensity to display a binary code.

Autonomous IoT Device Identification Prototype

2019 Network Traffic Measurement and Analysis Conference (TMA), 2019
In this paper, we demonstrate a prototype implementation to help identifying the types of IoT devices being connected to a home network. Our solution is based on a supervised classification algorithm (decision tree) trained on 33 IoT devices using relevant information extracted from network traffic.

A system identification technique for haptic devices

Proceedings of 2005 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2005. CCA 2005., 2005
The number of unknown parameters in a high degree-of-freedom (DOF) robot makes traditional identification techniques difficult to implement. A non-conventional system identification method is proposed to model the Freedom 6S, a force feedback hand controller with 6 DOF.

Identification process dedicated to haptic devices

2007 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2007
The haptic interfaces aim at the user's immersion in virtual environments through the stimulation of the haptic sense. Most devices consist of an articulated mechanical structure introducing distortions between the operator and the explored world. This distortion must be identified in order to assess the quality of the interface. The least-squares (LS)

Hearing device with peripheral identification units

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2008
Hearing aid fitted with a central processing unit ( 1 ) having peripherals ( 3 E, 3 A) connected to its input and output. Each peripheral includes an identification unit ( 5 ) having an output connected to a first input of a comparator ( 9 ). A second input of the comparator is connected to a read-only identification memory ( 11 ) containing ...
