Influence of Different Polymer Types on the Overall Release Mechanism in Hydrophilic Matrix Tablets

open access: yesMolecules, 2009
The effect of three different types of polymer chain structures on the polymer release from hydrophilic matrix tablets was investigated by comparing a synthetic semi-crystalline linear polymer (PEO), a branched amorphous polysaccharide (dextran) and an ...

Dimethyl Fumarate Alleviates Dextran Sulfate Sodium-Induced Colitis, through the Activation of Nrf2-Mediated Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Pathways. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Oxidative stress and chronic inflammation play critical roles in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC) and inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). A previous study has demonstrated that dimethyl fumarate (DMF) protects mice from dextran sulfate sodium ...

Karakteristik Isolat Bakteri Penghasil Dekstran dari Batang Tebu (Saccharum officinarum L.)

open access: yesJurnal Ilmu Pertanian Indonesia, 2019
Dextran is a long chain of carbohydrate polymers synthesized by dextransucrase enzyme with sucrose as a substrate. The physical, chemical conditions, temperature, and the concentration of sucrose in the isolate bacterial growth media play an important ...

Modulation of apoprotein E secretion in response to receptor-mediated endocytosis in resident and inflammatory macrophages. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have determined the effect of various endocytic ligands on the secretion of ApoE by macrophages. ApoE was a major secreted protein of resident macrophages, but BCG-activated macrophages secreted little ApoE and periodate-elicited macrophages secreted ...

Osmotic pressure: resisting or promoting DNA ejection from phage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Recent in vitro experiments have shown that DNA ejection from bacteriophage can be partially stopped by surrounding osmotic pressure when ejected DNA is digested by DNase I on the course of ejection.

SPIONs Prepared in Air through Improved Synthesis Methodology: The Influence of γ-Fe2O3/Fe3O4 Ratio and Coating Composition on Magnetic Properties

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have shown great potential in biomedicine due to their high intrinsic magnetization behaviour. These are small particles of magnetite or maghemite, and when coated, their surface oxidation is prevented,

The distribution of Dishevelled in convergently extending mesoderm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Convergent extension (CE) is a conserved morphogenetic movement that drives axial lengthening of the primary body axis and depends on the planar cell polarity (PCP) pathway.

Structural characterization and partial properties of dextran produced by Leuconostoc mesenteroides RSG7 from pepino

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2023
Exopolysaccharides (EPSs) produced by lactic acid bacteria possess various bioactivities and potential attractions for scientific exploration and commercial development. An EPS-producing bacterial strain, RSG7, was previously isolated from the pepino and

The influence of natural pulmonary surfactant on the efficacy of siRNA-loaded dextran nanogels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Aim: Topical administration of siRNA nanocarriers is a promising approach in the treatment of pulmonary disorders. Pulmonary surfactant, covering the entire alveolar surface of mammalian lungs, will be one of the first interfaces that siRNA nanocarriers ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
