The buckling instability of aggregating red blood cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Plasma proteins such as fibrinogen induce the aggregation of red blood cells (RBC) into rouleaux, which are responsible for the pronounced shear thinning behavior of blood, control the erythro- cyte sedimentation rate (ESR) a common hematological test ...

Activation of Soluble Polysaccharides with 1-Cyano-4-Dimethylaminopyridine Tetrafluoroborate (CDAP) for Use in Protein–Polysaccharide Conjugate Vaccines and Immunological Reagents. III Optimization of CDAP Activation

open access: yesVaccines, 2020
CDAP (1-cyano-4-dimethylaminopyridine tetrafluoroborate) is employed in the synthesis of conjugate vaccines as a cyanylating reagent. In the published method, which used pH 9 activation at 20 °C (Vaccine, 14:190, 1996), the rapid reaction made the ...

Anthocyanins inhibit tumor necrosis alpha-induced loss of Caco-2 cell barrier integrity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
An increased permeability of the intestinal barrier is proposed as a major event in the pathophysiology of conditions characterized by chronic gut inflammation.

Effect of crowding on the electron transfer process from plastocyanin and cytochrome c6 to photosystem I: a comparative study from cyanobacteria to green algae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Plastocyanin and cytochrome c 6, the alternate donor proteins to photosystem I, can be acidic, neutral or basic; the role of electrostatics in their interaction with photosystem I vary accordingly for cyanobacteria, algae and plants.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 6, Page 1626-1642, June 2026.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
