Climate change is causing many species' ranges to shift upslope to higher elevations as species track their climatic requirements. However, many species have not shifted in pace with recent warming (i.e. ‘range stasis'), possibly due to demographic lags or microclimatic buffering.

Resource Availability Overrides Predator Presence in Mosquito Oviposition Habitat Selection
Gravid Culex quinquefasciatus balance predation risk against resource availability when selecting oviposition sites. In outdoor mesocosms, we factorially manipulated sugarcane jaggery (resource) and notonectid predators (adult vs. nymph; caged vs. free‐swimming) across 2 years.

Substrate Preference of Black Soldier Fly Larvae Is Influenced by Rearing History
BSF larvae were reared under six different conditions: low, medium, or high larval density and on low, medium, and high‐water feeds to investigate feed choice behaviour. Larvae reared under all six conditions preferred substrate colonised by conspecifics. Low‐water feed caused slower larval growth and development.

Predation pressure varies vertically, with highest arthropod predation in the understory and highest bird predation in the canopy. Light availability differs across vertical strata, but predation patterns are more strongly influenced by height and forest structure than by light gradients.

Flooding affects fluctuating asymmetry but not growth of a riparian orbweaving spider
In a mesocosm experiment we assessed the impact of flood on aquatic insect emergence and on spider development using geometric morphometric analysis of fluctuating asymmetry. We observed 45% higher emergence in flooded mesocosm throughout the season. Spiders did not grow bigger but exhibited ~15% lower fluctuating asymmetry than in controls.
