Measurement of Phthalates in Settled Dust in University Dormitories and Its Implications for Exposure Assessment

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
Six phthalates: dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), di(n-butyl) phthalate (DnBP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBzP), di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and di(n-octyl) phthalate (DOP) in settled dust on different indoor surfaces were measured ...

Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-butylphthalate (DBP) exposure through diet in hospital patients. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ready-to-eat packed meals intended to hospital patients were studied over a two-weeks period to measure the contents of di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-butylphthalate (DBP) and to evaluate their daily intake by total diet.

Phthalate Metabolite, Mono(2‐Ethyl‐5‐Hydroxyhexyl) Phthalate (MEHHP), Promotes Uterine‐Fibroid–Associated Phenotypes in Myometrial Stem Cell‐Derived 3D Organoids

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how phthalate exposure contributes to uterine fibroid (UF) development by studying the effects of the Mono‐(2‐ethyl‐5‐hydroxyhexyl) phthalate (MEHHP), a metabolite of Di(2‐ethylhexyl) phthalate, on myometrial stem cells (MMSCs).

Determination of Phthalate Metabolites in Human Serum and Urine as Biomarkers for Phthalate Exposure Using Column-Switching LC-MS/MS

open access: yesSafety and Health at Work, 2011
Objectives:Although phthalates like dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) are commonly used as plasticizers and their metabolites are especially suspected of reproductive toxicity, little is known about occupational exposure to ...

Association of Exposure to Phthalates with Endometriosis and Uterine Leiomyomata: Findings from NHANES, 1999–2004 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background: Phthalates are ubiquitous chemicals used in consumer products. Some phthalates are reproductive toxicants in experimental animals, but human data are limited.

Plasticizer degradation by marine bacterial isolates : a proteogenomic and metabolomic characterization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Many commercial plasticizers are toxic endocrine-disrupting chemicals that are added to plastics during manufacturing and may leach out once they reach the environment.

Bisphenols and Phthalates in Bottled Mineral Water: First Evidence of Co‐Occurrence, Estrogenic Activity, and Health Risk in Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bisphenol A (BPA), its structural analogs, and phthalates are synthetic chemicals widely used, with documented endocrine‐disrupting activity. This study aimed to develop and validate a selective multiresidue analytical method for the simultaneous determination of BPA, 10 bisphenol analogs, and six phthalates in PET‐bottled mineral water.

Chronic Toxicity of Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate in Rats [PDF]

open access: yesToxicological Sciences, 2000
Fischer 344 rats were treated with 0, 100, 500, 2500, or 12,500 ppm di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) in the diet for up to 104 weeks. Blood and urine were analyzed at weeks 26, 52, 78, and 104 from 10 animals per sex per group. Survival was slightly but not statistically reduced for rats receiving 12,500 ppm DEHP. Body weights and food consumption were
