Generalized Bayesian Inference Nets Model and Diagnosis of Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2011
A generalized Bayesian inference nets model (GBINM) is proposed to aid researchers to construct Bayesian inference nets for various applications. The benefit of such a model is well demonstrated by applying GBINM in constructing a hierarchical Bayesian ...

Permutation inference methods for multivariate meta-analysis

open access: yes, 2019
Multivariate meta-analysis is gaining prominence in evidence synthesis research because it enables simultaneous synthesis of multiple correlated outcome data, and random-effects models have generally been used for addressing between-studies ...

On the choice of parameters in solar structure inversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The observed solar p-mode frequencies provide a powerful diagnostic of the internal structure of the Sun and permit us to test in considerable detail the physics used in the theory of stellar structure.

Simultaneous inference for factorial multireader diagnostic trials

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, 2017
We study inference methods for the analysis of multireader diagnostic trials. In these studies, data are usually collected in terms of a factorial design involving the factors Modality and Reader. Furthermore, repeated measures appear in a natural way since the same patient is observed under different modalities by several readers and the repeated ...

Nonparametric predictive inference for comparison of two diagnostic tests [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2020
An important aim in diagnostic medical research is comparison of the accuracy of two diagnostic tests.

A general class of zero-or-one inflated beta regression models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper proposes a general class of regression models for continuous proportions when the data contain zeros or ones. The proposed class of models assumes that the response variable has a mixed continuous-discrete distribution with probability mass at

Diagnostics for insufficiencies of posterior calculations in Bayesian signal inference

open access: yes, 2013
We present an error-diagnostic validation method for posterior distributions in Bayesian signal inference, an advancement of a previous work. It transfers deviations from the correct posterior into characteristic deviations from a uniform distribution of

Sickle Cell Disease Is an Inherent Risk for Asthma in a Sibling Comparison Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Sickle cell disease (SCD) and asthma share a complex relationship. Although estimates vary, asthma prevalence in children with SCD is believed to be comparable to or higher than the general population. Determining whether SCD confers an increased risk for asthma remains challenging due to overlapping symptoms and the ...

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.
