Diagonal reinforcement as strengthening to increase the stiffness and strength of concrete frame

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Two test objects of concrete frame behavior against lateral loading were performed by applying structural analysis with the wall as diagonal reinforcement in modeling.

Water‐loaded metal diagonal horn applicator for hyperthermia

open access: yesIET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation, 2015
This study presents the design of water‐loaded metal diagonal horn antenna at 2450 MHz along with simulation and experimental studies of specific absorption rate (SAR) and temperature distributions in a bio‐medium (muscle) in direct contact with the water‐loaded antenna for hyperthermia application.

Emerging insights into CC and CXC chemokines and their receptors in Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dual roles of CC and CXC chemokines in distinguishing active, latent, and subclinical tuberculosis were reviewed, along with an evaluation of their potential as diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets to advance precision medicine in tuberculosis management. The graphical abstract was generated with AI assistance (Gemini 3.0).

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Failure Mechanism of Deformed Concrete Tunnels Subject to Diagonally Concentrated Loads

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, 2009
: This article presents a brief description and summary of the testing of scale models of concrete tunnels subjected to diagonally concentrated loads. Based on the experimental findings, an extended discussion is carried out to select a rational compressive model for concrete that represents the dominant failure modes of deformed concrete tunnels ...

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Sliding window adaptive filter with diagonal loading for estimation of sparse UWA channels

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we propose a recursive least square (RLS) adaptive filter for sparse identification of underwater acoustic (UWA) channels. The adaptive filter is based on sliding window, diagonal loading, and dichotomous coordinate descent iterations. The

Numerical analysis for seismic performance of long links in eccentrically braced frames strengthened with additional steel plates and diagonal stiffeners [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
This paper presents a numerical analysis of the seismic performance of a single conventional long link (AISC-341-16) and four variants of strengthened long links, incorporating additional steel plates and diagonal stiffeners in the EBF system. This study

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...
