The structure of the diamond [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A, Containing Papers of a Mathematical and Physical Character, 1913
Abstract There are two distinct methods by which the X-rays may be made to help to a determination of crystal structure. The first is based on the Laue photograph and implies the reference of each spot on the photograph to its proper reflecting plane within the crystal.

Gradient layers of boron doped diamond on titanium substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
For the deposition of well-adhesive, low-doped diamond layers on titanium substrates a gradient layer is designed. At first a highly boron-doped diamond layer is deposited, which shows good adhesion to the titanium substrate, followed by a low-boron ...

The deposition and characterization of v-SiC and diamond/v-SiC composite films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
S.523-527Cubic silicon carbide (ß-SiC) has been deposited by a microwave plasma assisted chemical vapor deposition (MWCVD) process, using a hydrogen/tetramethylsilane (TMS) gas mixture.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

High-speed X-ray ptychographic tomography

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
X-ray ptychography is a coherent scanning imaging technique widely used at synchrotron facilities for producing quantitative phase images beyond the resolution limit of conventional x-ray optics.

The behaviour of resin-bond diamond wheels in the grinding of advanced ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Results are reported of the behaviour of the plane tangential grinding process using diamond grinding wheels. Grinding performance is analysed in terms of the wear behaviour of the wheel in the grinding of ceramic.

Persistent photocurrents in CVD diamond [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
S.404-407Persistent photocurrents (PPCs) in undoped polycrystalline CVD diamond are generated by UV illumination with 5.5 eV photons. PPCs are several orders of magnitude larger than dark currents and can be annealed at T > 550 K.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Brittle–ductile transition during diamond turning of single crystal silicon carbide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this experimental study, diamond turning of single crystal 6H-SiC was performed at a cutting speed of 1 m/s on an ultra-precision diamond turning machine (Moore Nanotech 350 UPL) to elucidate the microscopic origin of ductile-regime machining ...
