Occupational allergy caused by carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus)
Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1999Occupational respiratory symptoms caused by decorative flowers are seldom reported in the literature. In our area a large portion of the population works in carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus) winter quarters, and many workers have symptoms of rhinitis and asthma related to exposition. The purposes of this study were to investigate whether the symptoms ...

Characterization of arginine decarboxylase from Dianthus caryophyllus
Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2004Arginine decarboxylase (ADC, EC 4.1.1.9) is a key enzyme in the biosynthesis of polyamines in higher plants, whereas ornithine decarboxylase represents the sole pathway of polyamine biosynthesis in animals. Previously, we characterized a genomic clone from Dianthus caryophyllus, in which the deduced polypeptide of ADC was 725 amino acids with a ...

A new cyclopeptide from Dianthus caryophyllus
Chinese Chemical Letters, 2008Abstract A new cyclopeptide as well as a known cyclopeptide were isolated from the whole plants of Dianthus caryophyllus. Their structures were elucidated as cyclo (-Thr-Gly-Pro-Tyr-Phe-) (1) and cyclo (-Ala-Gly-Ser-IIe-Phe-Phe-) (2) by means of chemical and spectroscopic methods including MS, 1D and 2D NMR techniques.

THIDIAZURON EFFECTS ON DIANTHUS CARYOPHYLLUS 'LUNETTA'
Acta Horticulturae, 2007Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of Thidiazuron (TDZ) applied preharvest under glasshouse conditions on Dianthus caryophyllus 'Lunetta'. Thidiazuron at 0, 1, 10, 100, and 1000 mu M was applied as a foliar spray in two separate experiments. 15 plants were used for each concentration in both experiments.

In Vitro Propagation of Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.)
2009Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is one of the most popular ornamental plants worldwide and also among the most studied ones, mainly in cut flower postharvest physiology. Several protocols for the in vitro propagation of this species including nodal segment culture, somatic embryogenesis, and adventitious shoot induction are described in this ...

Exogenous spermidine delays senescence ofDianthus caryophyllusflowers
Plant Biosystems - An International Journal Dealing with all Aspects of Plant Biology, 2006Abstract Cut carnation flowers, cv. Rieko, were held under standard environmental conditions and treated with different concentrations of spermidine (spd), either by spraying directly on the petals or by supplying it in the water of the vase. The greatest delay of senescence was obtained with 10 mM spd in the water of the vase (10 mM spd-V) while no ...

Cuticle Development in Dianthus Caryophyllus Plantlets
1990Cuticle development on “in vitro” developed leaves is important in order to prevent excessive water loss during acclimatization of “in vitro” micropropagated plants. Therefore quantitative and qualitative content of epicuticular wax on leaves of Dianthus caryophyllus has been studied from the “in vitro” juvenile stage to adult plants acclimatized and ...

Agrobacterium-Mediated Transformation of Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.)
Nature Biotechnology, 1991We have recovered transgenic carnation plants on kanamycin-containing medium after co-cultivation of stems with disarmed or armed strains of Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Both strains contained a vector carrying the neomycin phosphotransferase II (NPTII) and β-glucuronidase (GUS) genes.
