Calf pre-weaning traits and immunoglobulin response to bovine viral diarrhea virus vaccination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Calfhood vaccination for bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a relatively new concept, and protocols are evolving. Our objective was to determine effects of BVDV type I vaccination protocol, calf behavior (chute score, and chute exit velocity), and ...

Hierarchically Engineered Multi‐Enzyme Nanoreactors for in vitro Drug Biosynthesis and Pathway Transplantation Into Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

Involvement of the Wnt pathway in BVDV cytopathogenic strain replication in primary bovine cells

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2022
Background Bovine viral diarrhea virus 1 (BVDV-1) of the pestivirus genus is an economically crippling virus in the cattle industry; this positive RNA virus causes mucosal disease resulting in reproductive losses and other disease syndromes.

Targeting the PDK1/c‐Myc/SOX10 Signaling in Oligodendrocytes Alleviates Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work reveals that oligodendrocyte homeostasis, mediated by PDK1, is a critical determinant of neuropathic pain (NPP) pathogenesis. Disruption of PDK1 in oligodendrocytes impairs SOX10‐dependent myelination programs through c‐Myc accumulation, leading to disrupted myelination and the pathophysiology of NPP.

Molecular characterization of ten viral pathogens causing calf diarrhea in Hanwoo (Bos Taurus coreanae) by next generation sequencing

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research
Background Calf diarrhea remains a significant concern in the global cattle industry, leading to considerable economic losses. Infectious pathogens are among the primary causes of this disease.

In vitro amplification of BVDV field strains isolated in Argentina: effect of cell line and culture conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aim of this work was to study the in vitro amplification of BVDV (Pestivirus, Flaviridae) field isolates from Argentina in MDBK, BoTur and BHK-21 continuous cell lines.

Visualization of Endosomal Escape of Intracellularly Delivered Protein With Unexpected Photochemical Internalization of Trypan Blue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TB, a conventional cell viability dye, acts as both a fluorescence modulator (quenching GFP fluorescence upon protein binding and recovering it upon release) and a photosensitizer that triggers endosomal escape via photochemical internalization (PCI) under 590 nm light.

Spatial and temporal reconstruction of bovine viral diarrhea virus genotype 1 dispersion in Italy

open access: yesInfection, Genetics and Evolution, 2012
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a widespread and economically important pathogen of cattle; genetic typing of BVDV isolates distinguished two species, namely BVDV-1 and BVDV-2. BVDV-1 is the most widespread worldwide and it includes at least 11 subtypes.

Some viral and bacterial respiratory tract infections of dairy cattle during the summer season [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2013
In this research, dairy cattle with respiratory system problems that were brought to a private slaughterhouse in Burdur province were investigated for viral and bacterial infections present in the summer season.

Assessment of two essential elements of BVDV control on selected Flemish dairy and beef farms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is one of the most important viruses to cause disease in cattle worldwide. The virus is endemically present in Belgium. Clinical diagnosis of BVDV infection is difficult.
