Evaluation of diarrheagenic E. coli in riversheds by quantitative PCR in combination with enrichment
Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) is a group of the most common agents of diarrhea. Highly virulent DEC strains could cause illness with dozens of organisms. Waterborne DEC may be detected using polymerase chain reaction (PCR); however, environmental contaminants can interfere with PCR reaction, thus causing the prevalence of DEC to be ...

Antimicrobial Resistance of Diarrheagenic E. coli in the Ashanti Region of Ghana
Applied Microbiology: Theory & Technology, 2023This study aimed to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility of diarrheagenic E. coli (DEC) in patients seeking medical attention at Ashanti Regional and St. Michael' s Hospitals. A total of 502 people in all were included in the study. To collect the data, a structured questionnaire was used.

Rapid detection of diarrheagenic E. coli by real-time PCR
Journal of Microbiological Methods, 2005Enterovirulent Escherichia coli are among the most important causes of acute diarrhea in developing as well as in developed countries. We have adapted classical PCR to detect these organisms in stool specimens to real-time PCR using the LightCycler (LC) SYBR Green format followed by melting curve analysis.
