New Thermally Irreversible and Fluorescent Photochromic Diarylethenes
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008A photokinetic investigation is here carried out on four newly synthesized diarylethenes with the aim to test their performance as photoreversible chromogenic and light emitting materials. The pentatomic ring, which fixes these diarylethenes in the cis conformation, contains a Si atom or a PO group.

Radiation Sensitivity of Photochromic Diarylethenes
Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2000Abstract The radiation sensitivity of photochromic dithienylethenes was studied with the aim of developing a new reusable color film dosimeter. Upon γ-irradiation, polystyrene films containing 1,2-bis(2,5-dimethyl-3-thienyl)perfluorocyclopentene 1 and 1,2-bis(2-methyl-5-phenyl-3-thienyl)perfluorocyclopentene 2 turned red and blue, respectively. The red

A dual-functional fluorescent sensor based on diarylethene for Zn2+ and Al3+ in different solvents
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: Chemistry, 2019A novel diarylethene derivative containing a purine unit has been successfully synthesized. It not only exhibited multiple controllable fluorescent switching properties with the stimuli of metal ions, and UV/vis lights, but also showed high selectivity ...

Turn-On Mode Fluorescent Diarylethenes
2017Turn-on mode highly fluorescent photochromic chromophores, which are initially non-luminous under irradiation with visible light but activated to emit fluorescence upon irradiation with UV light, have been developed. The chromophores are sulfone derivatives of 1,2-bis(2-alkyl-1-benzothiophen-3-yl)perfluorocyclopentene.

Electrochromism of photochromic diarylethene derivative
SPIE Proceedings, 2005The diarylethene may undergo photochemical ring-closing reaction and both photochemical and electrochemical ring-opening reaction. Irradiation of the open form with UV light results in essentially quantitative photocyclization to the deeply colored form.

Discovery and development of photochromic diarylethenes
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 2015Abstract A new family of thermally irreversible photochromic molecules, named “diarylethene,” was serendipitously discovered a quarter of a century ago. The diarylethenes undergo thermally irreversible, fatigue resistant, ultrafast and highly sensitive photochromic reactions.

Diarylethenes that Photoswitch with Visible Light
2017Two approaches to prepare visible-light-sensitive diarylethene (DAE) derivatives are described. One is direct excitation of well-designed DAE derivatives with visible light and the other is indirect visible-light excitation to a reactive triplet state by a triplet energy transfer.
