Flavonifractor Plautii or Its Metabolite Desaminotyrosine as Prophylactic Agents for Alleviating Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome is a potential target for treating cardiovascular disease. It is found that prophylactic administration of Flavonifractor plautii or its metabolite desaminotyrosine (DAT) exerts pleiotropic cardioprotective effects via promoting cardiomyocyte survival and attenuating cardiac inflammation against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R ...

Multimorbidity, functional impairment, and mortality in older patients stable after prior acute myocardial infarction: Insights from the TIGRIS registry

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1277-1286, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Data on the association of multimorbidity and functional impairment with cardiovascular (CV) and non‐CV outcomes among older myocardial infarction (MI) patients are limited. Hypothesis Multimorbidity and functional impairment among older MI patients are associated with CV and non‐CV mortality.

Injectable and Sprayable Thermoresponsive Hydrogel with Fouling‐Resistance as an Effective Barrier to Prevent Postoperative Cardiac Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Postoperative cardiac adhesions lead to numerous difficulties in reoperation procedures. Here, a thermo‐responsive in situ formed hydrogel is shown to can reliably cover the wounds after a convenient spraying or injection and significantly reduce adhesion formation in primary and recurrent cardiac injury adhesion models.

A remote hypertension management program clinical algorithm

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 45, Issue 12, Page 1147-1162, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Introduction Hypertension is the leading risk factor for death, affecting over one billion people worldwide, yet control rates are poor and stagnant. We developed a remote hypertension management program that leverages digitally transmitted home blood pressure (BP) measurements, algorithmic care pathways, and patient–navigator communications ...

Effect of hypertrophy on left ventricular diastolic function in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesHeart International, 2006
Background. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is characterized by asymmetric LV hypertrophy (LVH) and impairment in diastolic function. We assess the relationship between LVH and invasive indexes of diastolic function. Methods.

Application of NASTRAN for stress analysis of left ventricle of the heart [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Knowing the stress and strain distributions in the left ventricular wall of the heart is a prerequisite for the determination of the muscle elasticity and contractility in the process of assessing the functional status of the heart.

Electronic CPA‐Laser Having Enhanced Sensitivity and Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Coherent perfect absorber (CPA) laser points are peculiar singularities possessed by parity−time symmetric systems. They have demonstrated great potential for sensing applications, albeit hindered by the non‐tunability and structural limitations. This work introduces a tunable CPA laser system in a reader‐sensor scheme, whose sensitivity can be further
