Relationship of dietary monounsaturated fatty acids to blood pressure: the international study of macro/micronutrients and blood pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Objective: In short-term feeding trials, replacement of other macronutrients with monounsaturated fatty acid reduces blood pressure. However, observational studies have not clearly demonstrated a relationship between monounsaturated fatty acid intake ...

Initial Stay Time and Work‐Rest Scheduling During Consecutive Heavy‐Intensity Workdays in Hot Environments in Young and Older Males

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction This study examined initial stay times (IST), defined as the duration of uninterrupted work before core temperature approaches recommended safety limits (38.0°C, ~1.0°C above baseline), and the efficacy of work‐rest cycles during repeated heavy work across consecutive workdays in young and older males.

Noise exposure as a factor in the increase of blood pressure of workers in a sack manufacturing industry

open access: yesBeni-Suef University Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2014
Workers in manufacturing industries are exposed to noise generated by the manufacturing processes that results in auditory and non-auditory effects on them. This study assessed the relationship between exposure to noise and blood pressures.

1,2‐propanediol reformulation improves tribromoethanol safety and reveals pontine GABRA1 enrichment as a candidate mechanistic correlate of anesthesia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study develops a reformulated tribromoethanol (TBE) anesthetic using 1,2‐propanediol as a solvent to overcome solvent‐related toxicity. The novel formulation demonstrates, cardiovascular stability, and survival in prolonged protocols. It provides potent, dose‐dependent anesthesia without strain or sex differences.

Non‐contrast CT Markers of Hematoma Expansion and Andexanet Response in Factor Xa Inhibitor‐Associated Intracerebral Hemorrhage: An Analysis from ANNEXa‐I Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
In this post hoc analysis of the ANNEXa‐I trial (n = 434), we evaluated non‐contrast computed tomography (NCCT) markers of hematoma expansion (HE) in factor Xa inhibitor (FXai) –associated intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). At least one NCCT marker was present in 72.1%, and HE (≥12.5 mL or ≥ 35% increase in hematoma volume) occurred in 31.8 ...

Morphological and morphometric aspects of the equine aortic valve: New insights for comparative studies in mammals

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract New data on the equine aortic valve obtained using advanced techniques is especially important given the greater availability of animal models for translational research. Here we characterized the morphological and morphometric aspects of the equine aortic valve from 60 healthy hearts collected at equine abattoirs.

Effects of ATP2B1 Variants on the Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure according to the Degree of Obesity in the South Korean Population

open access: yesKorean Journal of Clinical Laboratory Science, 2020
Hypertension often leads to cardiovascular disease and kidney disease, and hypertention is an important worldwide problem. Body mass index (BMI) has an important role for raising blood pressure. Further, hypertension can be affected by both environmental
