Diazodiphenylmethane and Monosubstituted Butadienes: Kinetics and a New Chapter of Vinylcyclopropane Chemistry

Helvetica Chimica Acta, 2008
AbstractDiazodiphenylmethane (DDM) undergoes cycloadditions to 1‐substituted buta‐1,3‐dienes exclusively at the C(3)C(4) bond. At room temperature, the N2 loss from the initially formed 4,5‐dihydro‐3H‐pyrazoles 2 is faster than the cycloaddition and furnishes the vinylcyclopropane derivatives 7 and 9 with structural retention at the C(1)C(2) bond.

Acid-catalyzed decomposition of diazodiphenylmethane in dimethylsulfoxide

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1999
Acid-catalyzed decomposition of diazodiphenylmethane (DDM) has been studied in DMSO containing varying amounts of water. The reaction was found to be first-order in DDM and first-order in acid. The Brønsted plot for a series of carboxylic acids is curved with the H+ point falling below the curve defined by the carboxylic acids. In near-anhydrous DMSO,

Volumetric Study on the 1,3-Dipolar Cycloaddition Reaction of Diazodiphenylmethane with Several Olefins

Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1983
Abstract A high pressure kinetic study was made of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of Ph2CN2 with dimethyl maleate (DMM), dimethyl fumarate (DMF), methyl acrylate (MA), maleonitrile (MN), fumaronitrile (FN), and acrylonitrile (AN) in toluene at 25 °C. The activation volumes (ΔV\eweq) at 1 bar obtained for DMM, DMF, MA, MN, FN, and

Ring-Chain Tautomerism. Part 10. The Reaction of Oxocarboxylic Acids with Diazodiphenylmethane

Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 1999
The rate coefficients for the esterification of a series of oxocarboxylic acids with diazodiphenylmethane have been determined in ethanol or 2-methoxyethanol at 30.0 °C. These and the rates of reaction with model compounds have been used to estimate the equilibrium constants for ring-chain tautomerism for the oxocarboxylic acids.

ChemInform Abstract: THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF DIAZODIPHENYLMETHANE CATALYZED BY SULFUR COMPOUNDS IN THE PRESENCE OF OXYGEN

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1982

ChemInform Abstract: The Initiation of Acid‐Catalyzed Decomposition of Diazodiphenylmethane by Cation Radical Reactions.

ChemInform, 1987
AbstractResults of a reinvestigation of the anodically initiated chain reaction of Ph2CN2 in dry MeCN or in solvents containing H2O or MeOH lead to the suggestion that H+ is the chain carrier.

Investigation of electronic effects in the reaction of diazodiphenylmethane with pyridine and pyridine N-oxide carboxylic acids

J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 2, 1974
The empirical Hammett treatment has been applied to the investigation of structure–reactivity relationships for pyridine and pyridine N-oxide carboxylic acids in the reaction with diazodiphenylmethane. The values obtained for the pyridine aza-group (σ2 0·878, σ3 0·740, σ41·105) are in good agreement with the literature values for the alkaline ...

Copolymer statistics during esterification of syndiotactic poly(methacrylic acid) with diazotoluene and diazodiphenylmethane

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1974
AbstractSyndiotactic poly(methacrylic acid) has been partially esterified with diazotoluene or diazodiphenylmethane in extension of work carried out with diazomethane1. The sequence statistics of the resulting cosyndiotactic benzyl methacrylate–methacrylic acid and diphenylmethyl methacrylate–methacrylic acid copolymers have been studied with 1H‐NMR ...

The Reactivity of 2‐(4‐Phenylsubstituted)‐α,β‐Unsaturated Carboxylic Acids with Diazodiphenylmethane

Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships, 1991
AbstractIn connection with a study of the transmission of polar effects through ring double bonds, double bonds in open chain systems and delocalized double bonds, the reactivity of 2‐(4‐phenylsubstituted)‐α,β‐unsaturated carboxylic acids with diazodiphenylmethane in ethanol was investigated.
