Investigations of the reactivity of pyridine carboxylic acids with diazodiphenylmethane in protic and aprotic solvents, Part I: Pyridine mono-carboxylic acids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2005
Rate constants for the reaction of diazodiphenylmethane with isomeric pyridine carboxylic acids were determined in chosen protic and aprotic solvents at 30 °C, using the well known UV spectrophotometric method.

Investigations of the reactivity of pyridine carboxylic acids with diazodiphenylmethane in protic and aprotic solvents. Part II. Pyridine mono-carboxylic acid N-oxides [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2006
The rate constants for the reaction of three isomeric pyridine mono-carbocylic acid N-oxides with diazodiphenylmethane were determined at 30 ºC in thirty two protic and aprotic solvents by the well known UV spectrophotometric method.

Facile Synthesis of Some Novel Pyrido[3', 2': 4, 5]thieno[2,3-b][1,4]thiazine-8-carboxylic Acids [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2007
Model tetrahydropyrido[3',2':4,5]thieno[2,3-b][1,4]thiazines 9a-c were synthesized via reductive lactamization, using sodium dithionite, of the respective 2-[(carboxyalkyl)thio]-3-nitro-4,7-dihydrothieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acids 7a-c. The latter

Action of Thionyl Chloride on Carboxylic Acids in Presence of Pyridine [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1946
THE catalytic effect of small amounts of pyridine in the reaction between thionyl chloride and carboxylic acids is well known; Carre and Libermann1 have shown further that it is of great advantage to use equimolar quantities of acid, pyridine, and thionyl chloride, the acid chloride then being formed rapidly at lower temperatures, in high yield.

A Novel Approach in Cinnamic Acid Synthesis: Direct Synthesis of Cinnamic Acids from Aromatic Aldehydes and Aliphatic Carboxylic Acids in the Presence of Boron Tribromide [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2005
Cinnamic acids have been prepared in moderate to high yields by a new direct synthesis using aromatic aldehydes and aliphatic carboxylic acids, in the presence of boron tribromide as reagent, 4-dimethylaminopyridine (4-DMAP) and pyridine (Py) as bases ...

Formation of amides: one-pot condensation of carboxylic acids and amines mediated by TiCl4 [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry Central Journal, 2017
A general procedure for the synthesis of amides via the direct condensation of carboxylic acids and amines in the presence of TiCl4 is reported. The amidation reaction was performed in pyridine at 85 °C with a wide range of substrates providing the ...

2-(Phenylsulfanyl)pyridine-3-carboxylic acid [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2009
The title compound, C(12)H(9)NO(2)S, belongs to the nitro-gen-containing group of heterocyclic organic compounds and crystallized with two mol-ecules per asymmetric unit. In the crystal, both molecules form investment dimers linked by pairs of O-H-O hydrogen bonds. Weak symmetry-related C-H-O inter-actions link the carboxyl dimers along b axis.
