Solid−Liquid Equilibria of Dibenzothiophene and Dibenzothiophene Sulfone in Organic Solvents

This work reports the solid−liquid equilibria of several binary systems formed by solvent (1) + dibenzothiophene (2) and solvent (1) + dibenzothiophene sulfone (2). At least six experimental points were obtained to trace the solid−liquid equilibrium curve, using the visual technique to determine the change of phase.

Sonochemical decomposition of dibenzothiophene in aqueous solution

Dibenzothiophene is decomposed rapidly by sonication in aqueous solution. Decomposition of dibenzothiophene follows a first-order reaction kinetics. The rate constant was found to increase with increasing ultrasonic energy intensity, temperature, and pH and decrease with increasing initial dibenzothiophene concentration.

The thermodynamic properties of dibenzothiophene

Measurements leading to the calculation of the ideal-gas thermodynamic properties for dibenzothiophene are reported. Thermochemical and thermophysical properties were determined by adiabatic heat-capacity calorimetry, differential-scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.), comparative ebulliometry, and inclined-piston manometry.

Abstract The polarized absorption spectrum of dibenzothiophene near 330 nm has been measured in the pure crystal and in host lattices of fluorene, hexamethylbenzene, biphenyl and (polycrystalline) n-heptane. The assignment 1A1 ← 1A1 is confirmed for this electronic transition.

The thermal reduction of [(PEt3)2PdMe2] (1 mol%), which was produced in situ from [(PEt3)2PdCl2] (1) and 2 equiv of MeMgBr in toluene solvent, yielded palladium nanoparticles that in conjunction with MeMgBr effected the desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT).
