Dibenzothiophene-Containing Thiacarbaporphyrinoids
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2023A new type of expanded dibenzothiophene-containing thiacarbaporphyrinoid containing one dibenzothiophene, two p-phenylene, one thiophene, and two pyrrole rings connected via four meso carbons and two direct bonds was synthesized over a sequence of six steps starting with commercially available dibenzothiophene.

Adsorptive Removal of Dibenzothiophene and Dibenzothiophene Sulfone over Mesoporous Materials
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2017Dibenzothiophene (DBT, a typical sulfur compound) and dibenzothiophene sulfone (DBTO2, an oxidation product of DBT) were chosen as the model compounds, and their adsorption over a mesoporous silica (MCM-41) and a mesoporous carbon (CMK-3) were conducted under the exact same conditions.

Oxidation of dibenzothiophene to dibenzothiophene-sulfone using silica gel
Journal of Catalysis, 2009The oxidation of dibenzothiophene (DBT) to dibenzothiophene-sulfone (DBT-sulfone) has been a topic of particular interest in the past few years, as a possible technique to remove sulfur from crude oil. In this manuscript we show that the oxidation of DBT to DBT-sulfone occurs using silica and does not require the addition of an external oxidizing agent.

Crystals of dibenzothiophen are monoclinic, a= 8·67 ± 1, b= 6·00 ± 1, c= 18·70 ± 2 A, β= 113·9°, Z= 4, space group P21/c. The structure was determined with Mo-Kα diffractometer data by Patterson, electron-density, and least-squares methods, the final R being 0·083 for 1176 observed reflexions.

Desulphurization of dibenzothiophene by bacteria
World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 1994Four out of 187 strains, from enrichment cultures of dibenzothiophene (DBT), grew on DBT or thiophene 2-carboxylate as S sources. The four isolates, presumptively identified as Agrobacterium sp., Xanthomonas sp. and Corynebacterium spp., individually and together desulphurized DBT, producing 2-hydroxybiphenyl and sulphate.

Biotransformation of dibenzothiophene to dibenzothiophene sulfone by Pseudomonas putida
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1989A strain of Pseudomonas putida was isolated that transforms dibenzothiophene (DBT) to DBT sulfone (DBT-5-dioxide) via DBT-5-oxide. It also degrades DBT to 3-hydroxy-2-formyl benzothiophene via an alternate and previously described pathway, and to an unidentified red crystalline compound.

Solid−Liquid Equilibria of Dibenzothiophene and Dibenzothiophene Sulfone in Organic Solvents
Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2007This work reports the solid−liquid equilibria of several binary systems formed by solvent (1) + dibenzothiophene (2) and solvent (1) + dibenzothiophene sulfone (2). At least six experimental points were obtained to trace the solid−liquid equilibrium curve, using the visual technique to determine the change of phase.
