Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Enhanced Formation of Dicarboxylic Acids in the Catalytic Oxidation of Polyethylene With O2 and NOx

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The oxidation of polyethylene in the presence of a mixture of O2 and NOx and with Cu2+/V5+ as catalyst yields ∼51 mol% diacids, while retaining ∼80 mol% of the carbon in the oil fraction. The developed method is robust and tolerates several polymer types as well as impurities.

A new family of very long chain alpha,omega-dicarboxylic acids is a major structural fatty acyl component of the membrane lipids of Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus 39E.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
A new family of alpha,omega-dicarboxylic, very long chain fatty acids was isolated and characterized from the lipids of thermophilic anaerobic eubacterium, Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus 39E. After the isolation of the membrane, the fatty acyl components

Seasonal variations of water-soluble organic carbon, dicarboxylic acids, ketocarboxylic acids, and α-dicarbonyls in Central Himalayan aerosols [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2012
Aerosol samples were collected from a high elevation mountain site (Nainital, India; 1958 m a.s.l.) in the central Himalayas, a location that provides an isolated platform above the planetary boundary layer to better understand the composition of the ...

Resolving the Cu(bdc) Conundrum: Identifying Non‐Porous Packing of Prototypical Coordination‐Network Thin Films Combining Advanced Diffraction Techniques and Computational Modelling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed Cu(bdc) forms prototypical MOF thin films for which a multitude of not fully satisfactory structural models have been suggested. Combining rotating grazing‐incidence diffraction and X‐ray reflectivity on two complementary samples with density‐functional theory, we first discard the previously suggested models and then identify a non ...

Unlocking a Nitrosuccinate Lyase for Decarboxylative Enzymatic Hydronitration

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The nitrosuccinate lyase CreD catalyzes C–NO2 bond formation using nitrite in water and shows synthetic practicality with high turnover numbers up to 102,000. A combination of protein engineering and computational methods helped to reveal the mechanistic principles that underpin this unique enzymatic activity.

Affinity‐Tuned Albumin Hitchhiking Extends the Bioorthogonal Capture Window in Pretargeting Radiotheranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pharmacokinetic engineering of clickable radioligands was achieved via albumin hitchhiking approach within a pretargeted radiotheranostics delivery platform. This approach reduced rapid renal elimination, expanded bioorthogonal capture window, boosted tumor uptake by ∼3.5‐fold, and improved the tumor‐to‐liver ratio by ∼6‐fold.

Solvent‐Free Thermal Defect Engineering in Molecular Frameworks With Volatile Linkers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal removal of neutral volatile linkers enables precise and solvent‐free generation of metal vacancies in MOFs. This strategy affords redox‐stable, coordinatively unsaturated FeII sites with tunable spin, ligand coordination, and catalytic behavior. The approach offers a general route to design defect‐functional materials through local coordination

Molecular distributions of dicarboxylic acids, ketocarboxylic acids and α-dicarbonyls in biomass burning aerosols: implications for photochemical production and degradation in smoke layers [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2010
Aerosols in the size class <2.5 μm (6 daytime and 9 nighttime samples) were collected at a pasture site in Rondônia, Brazil, during the intensive biomass burning period of 16–26 September 2002 as part of the Large-Scale Biosphere-Atmosphere ...

Palladium(II) Complexes Containing Mixed Nitrogen-Sulphur Donor Ligands: Interaction of [Pd(Methionine Methyl Ester)(H2O)2]2+ with Biorelevant Ligands

open access: yesBioinorganic Chemistry and Applications, 2014
Pd(MME)Cl2 complex (MME = methionine methyl ester) was synthesised and characterized by physicochemical measurements. The reaction of [Pd(MME)(H2O)2]2+ with amino acids, peptides, or dicarboxylic acids was investigated at 25°C and 0.1 M ionic strength ...
