The evolution of genome size has been discussed in relation to the evolution of various biological traits. In the present study, the genome sizes of 22 dictyopteran species were estimated by Feulgen image analysis densitometry and 6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI)-based flow cytometry.

Control of American Cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattidae) in Sewers
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1991Baits, dusts, and aqueous sprays were applied to sewer shafts to control American cockroaches, Periplaneta americana (L). Boric acid and hydramethylnon baits failed to provide consistent control because of problems with mold on the baits and because large populations of cockroaches depleted the bait.

Toxicity of Abamectin to Cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae, Blattidae)
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1991Abamectin was fed to German cockroaches, Blattella germanica (L.), in non-choice tests. LT50s and LC50s were estimated by probit analysis. The LT50s for the German cockroach ranged from 4.4 to 1.7 d for males, from 9.0 to 2.4 d for females, and from 4.4 to 1.6 d for nymphs for bait concentrations of abamectin between 0.0025 and 0.0500%.

The adipokinetic hormone of Mantodea in comparison to other Dictyoptera
Archives of Insect Biochemistry and Physiology, 2017AbstractSix species of the order Mantodea (praying mantises) are investigated for the presence and sequence of putative adipokinetic hormones (AKHs). The selected species span a wide evolutionary range of various families and subfamilies of the clade Mantodea.
