Giant room temperature elastocaloric effect in metal-free thin-film perovskites
Solid-state refrigeration which is environmentally benign has attracted considerable attention. Mechanocaloric (mC) materials, in which the phase transitions can be induced by mechanical stresses, represent one of the most promising types of solid-state ...

ALD‐Assisted VO2 for Memristor Application
This work demonstrates a strategy for depositing VOx using thermal atomic layer deposition (ALD) followed by thermal annealing to synthesize VO2. The thin film and core/shell wire memristors exhibit excellent switching performance and are highly sensitive to ambient temperature.

NUMERICAL STUDY AND REMEDIATION OF AC INTERFERENCE CORROSION ON NEIGHBOURING PIPELINES [PDF]
Buried pipelines for gas and oil are protected by an insulation coating and a Cathodic Protection (CP). However, neighbouring high voltage HV power lines induce an alternating current AC which causes corrosion damages on metallic structures, even in CP ...

Towards all-dielectric metamaterials and nanophotonics [PDF]
We review a new, rapidly developing field of all-dielectric nanophotonics which allows to control both magnetic and electric response of structured matter by engineering the Mie resonances in high-index dielectric nanoparticles. We discuss optical properties of such dielectric nanoparticles, methods of their fabrication, and also recent advances in all-

InN dielectric function from the midinfrared to the visible range [PDF]
The dispersion of the dielectric function for wurtzite InN is analytically evaluated in the region near the fundamental energy gap. The real part of the dielectric function has a logarithmic singularity at the absorption edge. This results in the large contribution into the optical dielectric constant.

This study explores aerosol jet‐printed (AJP) surface roughness, its effects on the performance of microwave electronics, and its process contributors. First, an electromagnetic model is vetted for AJP's unique roughness signature. Simulations are built which show process‐induced roughness is as significant as conductor resistivity in driving microwave

A modified sol-gel method was used to successfully produce Na1/2Y1/2Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics with high dielectric permittivity. The dielectric permittivity of Na1/2Y1/2Cu3Ti4O12 ceramics reaches values larger than 104 at room temperature and 1 kHz.

Mechanical and dielectric response of microcomposites of the type: ferroelastic-dielectric [PDF]
Dynamic dielectric and mechanical responses of the microcomposites of the ferroelastic-dielectric type were studied in this paper. The mechanical inclusions-matrix interactions have influence on the mechanical moduli of the composite. We have studied a mechanical response of the composite which consists of the material M and of the other material I in ...

Linear Dielectric Thermodynamics: A New Universal Law for Optical, Dielectric Constants [PDF]
Linear dielectric thermodynamics are formally developed to explore the isothermal and adiabatic temperature - pressure dependence of dielectric constants. The refractive index of optical materials is widely measured in the literature: it is both temperature and pressure dependent.

Herein the metal‐to‐insulator transition is investigated when depositing vanadium dioxide (VO2) on glass or aluminum‐doped zinc oxide (AZO). O2 flow tuning during the deposition and additional post annealing are effective to control the metal‐to‐insulator transition. However, the VO2/AZO/glass stack reveals an increase in the transition temperature and
