Open-Ended-Line Reflective-Mode Phase-Variation Sensors for Dielectric Constant Measurements

2020 IEEE SENSORS, 2020
This paper reports a detailed analysis of reflective-mode phase-variation sensors based on open-ended microstrip lines. These sensors are useful for measuring dielectric constants or other variables related to it (e.g., material or liquid composition).

Determination of dielectric constant of substrate material using a fractal resonator sensor

2013 IEEE International Conference of Electron Devices and Solid-state Circuits, 2013
Summary form only given. With the rapid evolution in sensor technology and increasing importance in dielectric measurement, low profile, compact size, highly sensitive sensors are in great demand both in industry and medical field. A novel method for measuring the permittivity of dielectric substrate by means of a microstrip fractal resonator is ...

Development of X-Band Metamaterial-Inspired Sensors for Dielectric Constant Detection

2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019
A metamaterial-inspired patch antenna sensor design is proposed for sensing applications to detect and classify different dielectric testing materials in the X-band regime using reflection coefficients. A multi-negative-refractive-index band MTM placed over a patch antenna is specifically designed to enhance the differentiation between several testing ...

Magnetic and high-dielectric-constant nanoparticle polymer tri-composites for sensor applications

Journal of Materials Science, 2020
Multifunctional composites can be achieved by adding two different fillers with complementary properties to a polymer matrix. In this work, novel tri-composite multifunctional materials based on the incorporation of dielectric BaTiO3 (BT) and magnetic CoFe2O4 (CFO) nanoparticles into poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) have been developed with enhanced ...

Measurement of liquid complex dielectric constants using non-contact sensors

2009 IEEE Sensors, 2009
Our primary objective in this work is the accurate measurement of complex dielectric constant and conductivity of unknown liquids. In this paper we present design, fabrication, and testing results for an IDC (interdigitated capacitor) electrode sensor for use as a fluid monitoring component that can be integrated into a microfluidic system.

A New Dielectric Elastomer Sensor Based on Cantilever Beam Structure with Constant Strength

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Dielectric elastomer sensors are a new kind of capacitive sensors. They can be used to measure forces, pressures and deformations. The sensors have several advantages such as high elasticity and inexpensive fabrication compared with traditional sensors. In this paper, a new sensing device for measuring small concentrated force is proposed.

Microfabricated self-resonant structure as a passive wireless dielectric constant and conductivity sensor

Microsystem Technologies, 2011
This paper describes a low cost, passive wireless dielectric constant and conductivity sensor using a microfabricated inductor with interdigitated capacitors (IDC). A self-resonant-structure (SRS) is designed by incorporating IDC electrodes in the inter-winding space of the inductor. The distributed capacitance and conductance of the sensor is affected
