Dielectric response with short-ranged electrostatics. [PDF]

open access: yesProc Natl Acad Sci U S A, 2020
Significance Much of a liquid’s ability to act as a solvent stems from its dielectric properties. The intermolecular forces between polar molecules can act over very long ranges, which complicates both theoretical descriptions and molecular simulations.

Nature of Dielectric Response of Phenyl Alcohols. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Phys Chem B, 2023
Phenyl alcohols (PhAs) are an interesting class of materials, for which the dielectric response reveals only the presence of single prominent Debye-like (D) relaxation, interpreted as a genuine structural (α) process. Herein, we have performed dielectric and mechanical measurements on a series of PhAs characterized by the varying length of the alkyl ...

Dielectric response as a novel marker for ablation lesion quality: Relation to conventional ablation parameters. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Arrhythm, 2023
Background The tissue response viewer (TRV) is a novel marker for ablation lesion quality that aims to classify lesions into transmural or nontransmural lesions (high or low dielectric response, HDR or LDR) using dielectric‐based tissue assessment.

DFT Computed Dielectric Response and THz Spectra of Organic Co-Crystals and Their Constituent Components. [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy has been put forth as a non-contact, analytical probe to characterize the intermolecular interactions of biologically active molecules, specifically as a way to understand, better develop, and use active pharmaceutical ...

Dielectric Response Model for Transformer Insulation Using Frequency Domain Spectroscopy and Vector Fitting

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
This paper proposes a rational approximation-based approach to find positive real parameters for the extended Debye model (EDM), aimed at condition assessment of insulation systems of power transformers.

Electric Conductivity and Electrode Polarization as Markers of Phase Transitions

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
Dielectric polarization and electric polarization of electrodes are the common features of polar materials. We described methods to analyze their contributions and showed that both dependencies on temperature of dielectric conductivity and electrode ...

Nonlocal Dielectric Response of Water in Nanoconfinement [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2021
Recent experiments reporting a very low dielectric permittivity for nanoconfined water have renewed the interest to the structure and dielectric properties of water in narrow gaps. Here, we describe such systems with a minimal Landau-Ginzburg field-theory composed of a nonlocal bulk-determined term and a local water-surface interaction term.

Raman Response of Quantum Critical Ferroelectric Pb-Doped SrTiO3

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
A quantum paraelectric SrTiO3 is a material situated in close proximity to a quantum critical point (QCP) of ferroelectric transition in which the critical temperature to the ferroelectric state is suppressed down to 0 K.

Exploring the electromechanical response and electric field-induced dielectric anomalies in PMN–PT electroceramics

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Dielectrics, 2021
Electromechanical and dielectric properties of PMN–PT ferroelectric ceramics are investigated. In particular, dielectric response studies focus on the investigation of the influence of the DC applied electric field on the dielectric permittivity as a ...

Simulating Nanoscale Dielectric Response [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
We introduce a constrained energy functional to describe dielectric response. We demonstrate that the local functional is a generalization of the long ranged Marcus energy. Our re-formulation is used to implement a cluster Monte Carlo algorithm for the simulation of dielectric media.
