Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Unravelling collembolan life belowground: Stoichiometry, metabolism and release of carbon and nitrogen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This thesis investigated carbon and nitrogen dynamics of soil dwelling Collembola by using direct measurements and stable isotope additions. In an isotope change experiment, collembolans exchanged between 6 and 10% of carbon and nitrogen in their body ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Body Mass Index Modifies Associations Between Diet Quality and Circulating Metabolites: The CARDIA Study, 2005 to 2006

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Obesity perturbs metabolism, resulting in differential diet–disease associations, but metabolic pathways that differ by obesity remain unclear. We investigated whether cross‐sectional associations between metabolites and diet quality differ by

Diet Quality Affects Allergic Peritonitis in Mice [PDF]

open access: yesFolia Biologica, 2011
Reasons for the increased prevalence of allergies observed in recent decades remain elusive. Here, we used a murine model to investigate the effect of nutrition on ovalbumin-induced allergic peritonitis. Compared to the organs of mice kept on a standard diet, mice exposed to a low quality diet during the growth period showed a decrease in the mass of ...
