Nonlinear L-shaped association between composite dietary antioxidant index and risk of dementia: a prospective cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
ObjectiveDietary intake of antioxidants may decrease risk of dementia. However, the relationship between the composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) and dementia, has not yet been explored.

ROS/pH‐Responsive Phenylboronic Acid–Chitosan Nanoparticles Improve Silymarin‐Mediated Hepatoprotection After Hepatectomy With Gut‐Liver Axis‐Associated Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioactive phenylboronic acid–chitosan nanoparticles enable responsive silymarin delivery for post‐hepatectomy liver protection. The nanoplatform integrates antioxidant and antibacterial functions, improves hepatic recovery, and is associated with coordinated shifts in gut microbiota, metabolites, cytokines, and hepatic proteomic pathways, suggesting a ...

Persistent Zn2+ Influx‐Mediated Deacetylation of ANXA2 Regulates the “Zn2+‐Autophagic Flux” and Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zinc transporter SLC39A14 sustains intracellular Zn2+ levels to activate SIRT3‑dependent ANXA2 deacetylation at K302. This modification weakens ANXA2‑mTOR binding and releases autophagic‑flux suppression in nucleus pulposus cells. Dysregulated Zn2+ homeostasis disrupts this axis to drive intervertebral disc degeneration.

Compound Abrus cantoniensis Extract Alleviates AFB1‐Induced Liver Injury by Regulating PI3K‐AKT Pathway and Gut Microbiota/Butyrate Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ACCE has a good alleviating effect on AFB1‐induced liver injury, and this alleviating effect is related to the PI3K‐AKT pathway regulated by ACCE and the butyrate metabolism of gut microbiota. ABSTRACT Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a potent hepatotoxin commonly ingested through contaminated food. Abrus cantoniensis Hance, a traditional Chinese medicinal herb,

Developing Metal–Polyphenol Network‐Based Single‐Protein Particle Encapsulation System for Sustained Release of Whey Protein to Mitigate Sarcopenia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sarcopenia has emerged as a major health challenge in the aging population. Developing a sustained‐release system for whey protein may enhance its effectiveness in mitigating sarcopenia. Herein, a novel “single‐protein particle encapsulation” (SPPE) system is developed to protect whey protein and control its release.

Dietary fiber as a carrier of dietary antioxidants: An essential physiological function

open access: yes, 2012
The literature addresses dietary fiber (DF) and antioxidants (AOX) separately as nonrelated compounds. This paper proposes to show that DF and AOX could be approached jointly in nutrition and health studies because around 50% of the total dietary ...

Stimulation of OGG1 Enhances Oxidative DNA Damage Repair and Protects Against Acute Liver Failure by Acetaminophen

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chemical switching of OGG1 by CMM‐98 accelerates oxidative DNA damage repair and enhances hepatocyte resilience during acetaminophen‐induced acute liver injury. By promoting efficient processing of OGG1‐generated repair intermediates, CMM‐98 reduces oxidative damage, preserves cellular integrity, and protects against acute liver failure, identifying ...
