Effect of dietary niacin supplementation on serum constituents of periparturient dairy cattle
American Journal of Veterinary Research, 1984SUMMARY A total of 60 multiparous periparturient Holstein cows were used to determine the differences in serum constituents between cows given supplemental niacin in the diet and cows not given supplemental niacin. Serum inorganic phosphorus concentration was consistently higher (P < 0.10) and serum potassium, total calcium, and sodium ...

The dietary requirement of juvenile grass shrimp (Penaeus monodon) for niacin
Aquaculture, 1994A growth experiment was conducted to determine the adequate dietary niacin requirement of juvenile grass shrimp, Penaeus monodon. Purified diets with 7 levels (0, 9.2, 17.4, 26.3, 37.5, 69.8, 104.9 mg/kg diet) of supplemental niacin were fed to P. monodon (mean body weight 0.45±0.09 g) for 8 weeks. Each diet was fed to three replicate groups of shrimp.

Failure of Dietary Leucine to Influence the Tryptophan-Niacin Pathway in the Chicken
The Journal of Nutrition, 1984Three experiments were conducted with young chicks to determine whether dietary leucine affects the conversion of tryptophan to niacin. Either tryptophan or niacin improved growth and reduced perosis when chicks were fed a purified diet marginal in tryptophan and deficient in niacin.

The impact of dietary intake of tryptophan, niacin, and vitamin B6 on sleep
Journal of Sleep Research, 2016Objective: To examine the impact of dietary intake of tryptophan, niacin, and vitamin B6 intake on sleep. Methods: A survey was conducted among N = 509 Dutch university students (28.1% men, mean ± SD age was 20.8 ± 2.4 years old). Dietary intake of tryptophan, niacin and vitamin B6 was assessed with a short semi-quantitative food group questionnaire ...
