Enantioselective Synthesis of Dialkylated N-Heterocycles by Palladium-Catalyzed Allylic Alkylation [PDF]
The enantioselective synthesis of α-disubstituted N-heterocyclic carbonyl compounds has been accomplished using palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylation.

This exploratory study investigates the reversible cross‐linking of polyamide 6 by the photolabile cross‐linker 1‐(5‐(Aminoethyl)‐2‐nitrophenyl)ethanol (PXL). The storage modulus of the material increases with increasing PXL content and decreases when the exposure time of the samples is increased.

Preparation of diethyl malonate adducts from chalcone analogs containing a thienyl ring
Nine chalcone-diethyl malonate derivatives (4a-i) were prepared by the reaction of chalcone derivatives (3a-i) with diethyl malonate in the presence of a catalytic amount of KOt-Bu in CH2CI2 in good to excellent yields. The products were characterized by

The title compound, C18H23FO5, was synthesized by reacting diethyl malonate with 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-methylbut-2-en-1-one. The molecule adopts a loose conformation stabilized by weak C—H...O and C—H...π interactions.

Michael addition of thiols, carbon nucleophiles and amines to dehydroamino acid and dehydropeptide derivatives [PDF]
Michael additions of nitrogen heterocycles, thiols, carbon nucleophiles and amines to dehydroalanine derivatives, including a glycyldehydroalanine peptide, were performed in fair to good yields.

Nonproductive Events in Ring-Closing Metathesis Using Ruthenium Catalysts [PDF]
The relative TONs of productive and nonproductive metathesis reactions of diethyl diallylmalonate are compared for eight different ruthenium-based catalysts. Nonproductive cross metathesis is proposed to involve a chain-carrying ruthenium methylidene.

Stereoselective Synthesis of Complex α‐Amino Acid Derivatives Using Boron and Palladium Chemistry
Matteson homologation of boronic acid esters allows the highly stereoselective synthesis of complex allyl alcohols, which are valuable substrates for palladium‐catalyzed allylic alkylations. With highly reactive amino acid zinc enolates, trans‐configured γ,δ‐unsaturated amino acid derivatives are obtained as single regioisomer.

Oxidative halogenation of cisplatin and carboplatin: synthesis, spectroscopy, and crystal and molecular structures of Pt(IV) prodrugs [PDF]
A series of Pt(IV) prodrugs has been obtained by oxidative halogenation of either cisplatin or carboplatin. Iodobenzene dichloride is a general reagent that cleanly provides prodrugs bearing axial chlorides without the need to prepare intervening Pt(IV ...
