An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Finite-dimensional perturbations of linear operators and some applications to boundary integral equations

open access: yes, 1999
Finite-dimensional perturbing operators are constructed using some incomplete information about eigen-solutions of an original and/or adjoint generalized Fredholm operator equation (with zero index).

Lack of controllability of the heat equation with memory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We consider a model for the heat equation with memory, which has infinite propagation speed, like the standard heat equation. We prove that, in spite of this, for every T > 0 there exist square integrable initial data which cannot be steered to hit zero ...

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Mean-field approximation of counting processes from a differential equation perspective

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2016
Deterministic limit of a class of continuous time Markov chains is considered based purely on differential equation techniques. Starting from the linear system of master equations, ordinary differential equations for the moments and a partial ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

On the Construction of the Trajectory of a Dynamical System with Initial Data on the Hyperplanes

open access: yesИзвестия Иркутского государственного университета: Серия "Математика", 2015
In this paper we consider the problems of correct solvability of the initial value problem for a class of differential equations in Banach spaces. We apply the method of reduction of degenerate differential equation to the regular problems using the ...

On the initial value problem for a partial differential equation with operator coefficients

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1980
In the present work it is studied the initial value problem for an equation of the form L∂ku∂tk=∑j=1kLj∂k−ju∂tk−j,where L is an elliptic partial differential operator and (Lj:j=1,…,k) is a family of partial differential operators with bounded operator ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
