Generalized Donaldson's functionals and related nonlinear partial differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we introduce a family of generalized Donaldson's functional on holomorphic vector bundles, whose Euler-Lagrange equations are a vector bundle version of the complex $k$-Hessian equations. We also discuss the uniqueness of solutions to these equations.

Theta functions and adiabatic curvature on an Abelian variety [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
For an ample line bundle $L$ on an Abelian variety $M$, we study the theta functions associated with the family of line bundles $L\otimes T$ on $M$ indexed by $T\in \text{Pic}^{0}(M)$. Combined with an appropriate differential geometric setting, this leads to an explicit curvature computation of the direct image bundle $E$ on $\text{Pic}^{0}(M)$, whose

Isolation and characterization of cDNAs for differentially accumulated transcripts between mesophyll cells and bundle sheath strands of maize leaves.

open access: yesPlant and Cell Physiology, 2000
To characterize novel genes functioning specifically in mesophyll cells (MCs) or bundle sheath cells (BSCs) of C4 plants, differential screening of a maize cDNA library was conducted using 32P-labeled single-strand cDNAs prepared from MCs and bundle ...

DOES CONTENT KNOWLEDGE AFFECT TOEFL IBT™ READING PERFORMANCE? A CONFIRMATORY APPROACH TO DIFFERENTIAL ITEM FUNCTIONING

open access: yes, 2009
The TOEFL iBT™ has increased the length of the reading passages in the reading section compared to the passages on the TOEFL® computer-based test (CBT) to better approximate academic reading in North American universities, resulting in a reduced number ...

Cohomology of flat bundles and a Chern-Simons functional [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
We show that a flat principal bundle with compact connected structure group and its adjoint bundles of Lie groups have the same cohomology as the trivial bundle, which is done by proving they satisfy the condition for the Leray-Hirsch theorem. This information has been used to construct a cohomology class of the adjoint bundle of a flat bundle whose ...

An Approach to Differential Invariants of $G$-Structures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
In a natural way, the local diffeomorphisms of a manifold onto itself act on the reference frame bundles of any order and on the bundles associated with them. Due to the transitivity, the invariants by diffeomorphisms of an associated bundle correspond to the real functions on the orbit space of the action of the jet group on the typical fiber, which ...

Variational Aspects of the Seiberg-Witten Functional [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1995
The Seiberg-Witten equations that have recently found important applications for four-dimensional geometry are the Euler-Lagrange equations for a functional involving a connection $A$ on a line bundle $L$ and a section $\phi$ of another bundle $W^+$ constructed from $L$ and a spinor bundle on a given four-dimensional Riemannian manifold.

Frame-independent formulation of Newtonian mechanics [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
A frame independent formulation of analytical mechanics in the Newtonian space-time is presented. The differential geometry of affine values i.e., the differential geometry in which affine bundles replace vector bundles and sections of one dimensional affine bundles replace functions on manifolds, is used. Lagrangian and hamiltonian generating objects,

Is There Any Interaction Between Background Knowledge and Language Proficiency That Affects TOEFL iBT ® Reading Performance?

open access: yes, 2012
This study investigated the effect of the interaction between test takers' background knowledge and language proficiency on their performance on the TOEFL iBT® reading section.
