Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Cytocentrifugation conditions affecting the differential cell count in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid

open access: yes, 2000
OBJECTIVE: To investigate variations in speed, duration and acceleration rate of the Cytospin 3 cytocentrifuge (Shannon, scientific Ltd., Astmoor, England) on the differential cell count of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)fluid samples.STUDY DESIGN: BAL ...

Machine Learning Approach for Early Lactation Mastitis Diagnosis Using Total and Differential Somatic Cell Counts

open access: yesAnimals
Dairy herds around the world are undergoing several changes. Herd sizes are increasing, as are both milk yield and quality. The implementation of new technologies in various domains of dairy production is leading to an increase in the quantity of data ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

A computer-aided system for differential count from peripheral blood cell images

open access: yes, 2016
The differential count and analysis of blood cells in microscope images can provide useful information concerning the health of patients. There are three major blood cell types, namely, erythrocytes (RBCs), leukocytes (WBCs), and platelets.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Clinical utility of hematological parameters in aplastic anemia

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hematological parameters available on automated hematology analyzers have been shown to be useful indicators for hematological disorders. However, extensive studies especially in aplastic anemia for these indices are sparse.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Neutrophil count is the most important prognostic component of the differential white cell count in patients undergoing elective surgery for colorectal cancer

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Systemic inflammatory scoring systems such as the NLR have been reported to have prognostic value in many solid organ cancers. The aim of this study was to examine the relationships between the components of the white cell count (WCC) and ...
