Differential Evoluiton - Particle Swarm Optimization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper shows the Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm with a Differential Evolution. Each candidate solution is sampled uniformly in [!5,5] D, whereDdenotes the search space dimension, and the evolution is performed with a classical PSO algorithm ...

A Feature-Based Analysis on the Impact of Set of Constraints for e-Constrained Differential Evolution

open access: yes, 2015
Different types of evolutionary algorithms have been developed for constrained continuous optimization. We carry out a feature-based analysis of evolved constrained continuous optimization instances to understand the characteristics of constraints that ...

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Comparison of the Asynchronous Differential Evolution and JADE Minimization Algorithms

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2016
Differential Evolution (DE) is an efficient evolutionary algorithm to solve global optimization problems. In this work we compare performance of the recently proposed Asynchronous Differential Evolution with Adaptive Correlation Matrix (ADEACM) to the ...

Reduced-Order Modeling based on Approximated Lax Pairs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A reduced-order model algorithm, based on approximations of Lax pairs, is proposed to solve nonlinear evolution partial differential equations. Contrary to other reduced-order methods, like Proper Orthogonal Decomposition, the space where the solution is

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

An improved negative selection algorithm based on the hybridization of cuckoo search and differential evolution for anomaly detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The biological immune system (BIS) is characterized by networks of cells, tissues, and organs communicating and working in synchronization. It also has the ability to learn, recognize, and remember, thus providing the solid foundation for the ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Virtual Simulation of Integrated Circuits Combining AP with DE Algorithm

open access: yesElectronics
As computers develops, virtual simulation technology becomes an important means of integrated circuit design. Therefore, based on the demand for virtual simulation of integrated circuits, a simulation method combining affinity propagation and ...

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
