In this paper, we study an advanced pouring control system using a tilting-ladle-type automatic pouring machine. In such a machine, it is difficult to precisely pour the molten metal into the pouring basin of the mold, as the outflow from the ladle can ...

On the computation of $\pi$-flat outputs for differential-delay systems
We introduce a new definition of $\pi$-flatness for linear differential delay systems with time-varying coefficients. We characterize $\pi$- and $\pi$-0-flat outputs and provide an algorithm to efficiently compute such outputs.

Flatness of the setting Sun [PDF]
Atmospheric refraction is responsible for the bending of light-rays in the atmosphere. It is a result of the continuous decrease in the refractive index of the air as a function of altitude.

GENERIC 4D FLIGHT GUIDANCE BASED ON DIFFERENTIAL FLATNESS [PDF]
With the increase of traffic density, it appears of interest to design more versatile guidance systems for civil transportation aircraft. In this paper, a new approach is proposed to design a guidance system able to achieve 4D trajectory tracking.

A generalization of flatness to nonlinear systems of partial differential equations. Application to the command of a flexible rod [PDF]
We introduce a concept of differential flatness for systems described by nonlinear partial differential equations. It generalizes the now classical notion of differential flatness for finite differential systems and its recent extensions to linear ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

The Hitchin-Witten Connection and Complex Quantum Chern-Simons Theory [PDF]
We give a direct calculation of the curvature of the Hitchin connection, in geometric quantization on a symplectic manifold, using only differential geometric techniques.

Uniqueness properties of the Kerr metric [PDF]
We obtain a geometrical condition on vacuum, stationary, asymptotically flat spacetimes which is necessary and sufficient for the spacetime to be locally isometric to Kerr.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Thomas decompositions of parametric nonlinear control systems
This paper presents an algorithmic method to study structural properties of nonlinear control systems in dependence of parameters. The result consists of a description of parameter configurations which cause different control-theoretic behaviour of the ...
