Astrometric detection of exoplanets from the ground

open access: yes, 2013
Astrometry is a powerful technique to study the populations of extrasolar planets around nearby stars. It gives access to a unique parameter space and is therefore required for obtaining a comprehensive picture of the properties, abundances, and ...

Discovery of a Potent Fluorescence Polarization Probe for Identifying USP1 Allosteric Inhibitors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents the first ubiquitin‐specific protease 1 (USP1) allosteric fluoroprobe and fluorescence polarization assay, enabling the differentiation of allosteric and catalytic site inhibitors. Further, a novel class of tetrahydroisoquinoline‐based USP1 inhibitors is designed, with compound 14a (USP1 IC50 = 29.9 nM) showing strong selectivity ...

Monitoring Coastal Reclamation Subsidence in Hong Kong with Distributed Scatterer Interferometry

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Land subsidence has been a significant problem in land reclaimed from the sea, and it is usually characterized by a differential settlement pattern due to locally unconsolidated marine sediments and fill materials.

Exceptional Antimodes in Multi‐Drive Cavity Magnonics

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Driven‐dissipative cavity‐magnonics provides a flexible platform for engineering non‐Hermitian physics such as exceptional points. Here, using a four‐port, three‐mode system with controllable microwave interference, antimodes and coherent perfect extinction (CPE) are realized, enabling active tuning to antimode exceptional points.

How to estimate the differential acceleration in a two-species atom interferometer to test the equivalence principle

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a scheme for testing the weak equivalence principle (Universality of Free Fall) using an atom-interferometric measurement of the local differential acceleration between two atomic species with a large mass ratio as test masses.

Entropy‐Guided Convolutional Neural Network Classification of Sensor Signals for Real‐Time Surface Quality Monitoring in Direct Laser Interference Patterning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Neural‐network pipeline for real‐time DLIP surface‐quality monitoring: spectral entropy of WLI topographies is used to generate interpretable K‐means labels, which are transferred to time‐resolved photodiode traces. A compact dual‐input 1D‐CNN (signal + laser parameters) learns discriminative spatiotemporal features and predicts “OK/NOK” surface ...

Efficient description of Bose-Einstein condensates in time-dependent rotating traps

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum sensors based on matter-wave interferometry are promising candidates for high-precision gravimetry and inertial sensing in space. The favorable source for the coherent matter waves in these devices are Bose-Einstein condensates.

Metasurfaces and Metadevices for Topological Electromagnetic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Optical topologies refer to diverse topological localized structures made by diverse parameters of light fields, such as vortices, skyrmions, and hopfions. This article navigates a direction of metasurface‐based integrated devices for generation, manipulation and detection of novel topologies of light, which would be a rapidly growing interdisciplinary
