Adaptive current differential protection schemes for transmission-line protection
IEEE PES General Meeting, 2009Throughout the history of power system protection, researchers have strived to increase sensitivity and speed of apparatus protection systems without compromising security. With the significant technological advances in wide-area measurement systems, for transmission system protection, current differential protection scheme outscores alternatives like ...

Protecting Workers, Protecting Publics: The Ethics of Differential Protection
1985When talking about risk in the private sector, it is appropriate that attention be directed to the host of issues currently besieging those charged with health and safety responsibility in industry, labor, and the federal government. These issues include such topics as: What role should science and values play in risk assessment?

Syntheses of differentially protected isocoumarins
Tetrahedron, 2010Syntheses of an isocoumarin subunit suitable for the completion of purpuromycin are outlined. Specifically, work targeting an orthogonally protected isocoumarin (eventually 12% yield over 12 steps) and an improved synthesis of a symmetrically protected isocoumarin (18% over 10 steps) are described.

High Impedance Differential protection system versus Low Impedance Differential protection system
2015 68th Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2015High Impedance Differential (HID) is a classical busbar protection system that has provided a high degree of reliability in worldwide use over the past six decades. During the past five years, however, there has been a growing movement to replace HID with state-of-the-art numerical Low Impedance Differential (LID) protection systems.

Interoperability of Line Differential Protection
2021 74th Conference for Protective Relay Engineers (CPRE), 2020Line differential protection is used for a long time to protect overhead lines and cables in transmission and distribution systems. The basic principle of line differential protection is Kirchhoff’s current law. Due to this principle line differential protection is strictly selective to clear faults on the protected line.To apply Kirchhoff’s current ...

Current-differential protective schemes
1993It will be clear from the previous chapter that overcurrent and earth fault protective equipment employing time grading and directional detection cannot provide correct discrimination on all power networks and in many instances the clearance times for some faults would not be acceptable.

Differential protection of converter transformers
2016 17th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2016In this paper, development of the special converter transformer model (with 5 windings) and testing results of its differential protection is presented. The special converter transformer is mainly used for supply of rectifiers or converters, FACTS devices etc. This type of transformer can introduce non-standard fixed phase angle shifts such as 20o, 15o,

Percentage-differential transformer protection
Electrical Engineering, 1931Three-winding transformers present difficult problems for the protection engineer. Differential relays which operate on the phase difference between the currents in the different windings are particularly adapted to meet the requirements.

Protection of Transformer by Using Differential Protection Scheme
2023Differential protection is provided in the electrical power transformer which are higher rated. This type of protection can detect internal faults in the transformer. However, it cannot prevent external faults from occurring in the transformer. If a short circuit is detected in the bushings, then the Buchholz relay cannot effectively cover it.

Harmonic-current-restrained relays for differential protection
Electrical Engineering, 1938DIFFERENTIAL relaying is the commonly accepted means of protecting large power transformers, a-c generators, and station bus systems against internal faults.1 The methods and circuits employed in various instances, while differing in detail, are all fundamentally the same in basic principle.
