Considerations for differential protection in LV buses
2016 IEEE/IAS 52nd Industrial and Commercial Power Systems Technical Conference (I&CPS), 2015Current differential principles are well known and commonly used for protection of medium and large size transformers, important motors, medium voltage (MV) generators, medium and high voltage buses, and any type of important power equipment with measurable input and output currents.

Novel differential protection with double restraint coefficient
2008 IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting - Conversion and Delivery of Electrical Energy in the 21st Century, 2008In this paper a novel differential protection scheme is proposed to overcome the shortcoming of common approaches. Conventionally the percentage differential criterion have just only one coefficient in all instances. Therefore the contradiction of the sensitivity in the inner faults and the security in the outer ones is unavoidable.

Transformer differential protection using principal component analysis
2006 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006This paper describes a new algorithm for transformer differential protection, based on pattern recognition of the differential current obtained as the phasor sum of the current transformers secondary currents. The algorithm uses principal component analysis (PCA) to pre-processing data from the power system, in order to eliminate redundant information ...

GPS synchronised current differential protection
6th International Conference on Developments in Power Systems Protection, 1997A new technique for current differential feeder protection employing measurement synchronisation is described in this paper. The application of current differential protection to feeders can present several difficulties due to the distance between the relays at the line ends.

Chemoenzymatic synthesis of differentially protected 3-deoxysugars
Nature Chemistry, 20103-Deoxysugars are important constituents of complex carbohydrates. For example, 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-manno-octulosonic acid (KDO) is an essential component of lipopolysaccharides in Gram-negative bacteria, 2-keto-3-deoxy-D-glycero-D-galacto-nonulosonic acid (KDN) is widely found in carbohydrates of the bacterial cell wall and in lower vertebrates, and ...

Testing microprocessor-based numerical transformer differential protection
2015 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2015Transformer differential protection application has always been a challenge to protection engineers and commissioning personnel, even with older electromechanical and solid-state technologies. The emergence of microprocessor-based protection, where the intelligence is implemented numerically in software algorithms, and the fact that different relay ...

Differential Protection for Converter Transformers
12th IET International Conference on Developments in Power System Protection (DPSP 2014), 2014This paper will present differential protection schemes used for special Converter Transformers. These transformers are typically used to feed MV drives, power electronic or FACTS devises. Converter transformers are industrial power transformers which may have phase angle shift different from standard 30o or a multiple of 30o.
