Differential Dose Response of mTOR Signaling to Oral Administration of Leucine in Skeletal Muscle and Liver of Rats

Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2013
Phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 4E-binding protein 1 (4E-BP1) and 70-kDa ribosomal protein S6 kinase (S6K1) in the rat liver increased in proportion to the amount of leucine administered, ranging from 0.169 to 1.35 g/kg of body weight.

Differentiated responses of renal and adrenal sympathetic nerve activity to intravenous morphine administration in anesthetized rats.

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1990
The aim of this study was to examine the effect of i.v. morphine on sympathetic nerve activity (SNA) in the rat. Adrenal SNA and renal SNA were recorded simultaneously, together with mean arterial pressure and heart rate, in chloralose-anesthetized, artificially ventilated rats. Separate groups of rats were subjected to vagotomy.

Differential metabolic responses to local administration of TGF-β and IGF-1 in temporomandibular joint cartilage of aged mice

Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics, 2000
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease characterized by destruction of the articular cartilage in aging and senescence. The aim of this study was to study the possible treatment of this disease by intraarticular injection of growth factors to osteoarthritic joints of aged animals.

Differential response of arcuate proopiomelanocortin- and neuropeptide Y-containing neurons to the lesion produced by gold thioglucose administration

The Journal of Comparative Neurology, 2006
The effect of gold thioglucose (GTG) administration on neurons containing feeding-related peptides in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus was examined in mice. Intraperitoneal GTG injection increased the body weight and produced a hypothalamic lesion that extended from the ventral part of the ventromedial nucleus to the dorsal part of the arcuate nucleus.

Differential effects of chronic administration of desipramine on the cyclic AMP response in cortical slices and membranes in the rat

Neuropharmacology, 1987
Chronic administration of desipramine resulted in a significant decrease in the degree of stimulation of production of cyclic AMP by noradrenaline, isoproterenol and forskolin in slices of the cerebral cortex of the rat. In preparations of membranes from similarly treated animals, GppNHp- and forskolin-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity was ...

Differential age effect of oral administration of an antigen on antibody response: an induction of tolerance in young mice but enhancement of immune response in old mice

Mechanisms of Ageing and Development, 1999
Sheep red blood cells (SRBC) were orally administered to young (4 months old) and old (22 months old) mice, and its effect on the antibody production after systemic immunization was compared between young and old mice. The results showed that the dose-dependent suppression of antibody response (oral tolerance) was observed in young mice which had been ...

Differential patterns of response in patients with rheumatoid arthritis following administration of an anti-CD 5 immunoconjugate.

Clinical and experimental rheumatology, 1993
As part of the clinical investigation of a new biologic agent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) various outcome measures were utilized to evaluate clinical activity in two multicenter open label protocols. These measures included the single criteria of joint tenderness and swelling counts and scores and composite criteria based on the ...
