On the Landau-Kolmogorov inequality between $\| f' \|_{\infty}$, $\| f \|_{\infty}$ and $\| f''' \|_1$

open access: yesResearches in Mathematics, 2019
We solve the Landau-Kolmogorov problem on finding sharp additive inequalities that estimate $\| f' \|_{\infty}$ in terms of $\| f \|_{\infty}$ and $\| f''' \|_1$.

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

An Accurate Fourier-Based Method for Three-Dimensional Reconstruction of Transparent Surfaces in the Shape-From-Polarization Method

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The Fourier-based gradient field integration method can efficiently reconstruct transparent surfaces from the measured gradient data in the Shape-from-polarization method.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

STECHKIN PROBLEM FOR A DIFFERENTIATION OPERATOR WITH ASYMMETRIC CONSTRAINTS

open access: yesUral Mathematical Journal
The Landau–Kolmogorov inequality estimates the norm of an intermediate derivative by the product of the norms of the function and its highest-order derivative.

Nutrient/TOR signaling controls adipose mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) to regulate organismal growth in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Animals must match their growth rate to available nutrients. We show that in Drosophila larvae, the nutrient‐sensing TOR kinase controls growth by regulating levels of TFAM, a key regulator of mitochondrial function, in the adipose tissue. When nutrients are abundant, high TOR activity suppresses TFAM, lowering mitochondrial bioenergetic activity and ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Weighted differentiation composition operators from the logarithmic Bloch space to the weighted-type space

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2016
The boundedness of the weighted differentiation composition opera- tor from the logarithmic Bloch space to the weighted-type space is characterized in terms of the sequence (zn)n∈N0.
