Background: Preoperative evaluation of anatomical landmarks and clinical factors helps to identify potentially difficultlaryngoscopies; however, its predictive reliability is unclear. As the ratio of height to thyromental distance (RHTMD) is a newer upper airwaypredictive test for difficult laryngoscopy, the predictive value and odds ratios of RHTMD ...

Application of ultrasonic measurement in evaluating difficult laryngoscopy exposure of OSAHS patients [PDF]
Objective To explore the feasibility of ultrasonic measurement of the skin to hyoid bone distance, skin to epiglottis distance and skin to anterior commissure of vocal cords distance for predicting difficult laryngoscopy exposure in obstructive sleep ...

Background: The incidence of unanticipated difficult airway is 14.3-17.5% in obese. Preoperative difficult airway prediction is important to avoid postoperative morbidity and mortality. USG guided measurement of anterior neck soft tissue thickness can be

MANDIBULOHYOID DISTANCE IN DIFFICULT LARYNGOSCOPY
We studied radiographically 11 patients in whom direct laryngoscopy proved difficult and 100 control (general population) subjects. The vertical distance between the mandible and the hyoid bone (mandibulohyoid distance) was measured and the positions of the mandibular angle and hyoid bone determined in relation to the cervical vertebrae.

Difficult Laryngoscopy and Diabetes Mellitus
The incidence of difficult laryngoscopy was determined retrospectively in 40 diabetic patients having pancreas transplantations and in 75 diabetic and 112 nondiabetic patients having kidney transplantations. Diabetes was associated with a significant increase in the proportion of patients having difficult laryngoscopies in patients having renal ...

Evaluation of 2 ultrasonic indicators as predictors of difficult laryngoscopy in pregnant women
Background: Ultrasonic measurements of tongue thickness and condylar translation were recently introduced to predict difficult laryngoscopy in non-obstetric patients.
