DIFFRACTIVE PHENOMENA [PDF]

open access: yesLepton-Photon 01, 2002
The most recent theoretical and experimental results in the field of diffractive scattering are reviewed. A parallel between the two current theoretical approaches to diffraction, the DIS picture in the Breit frame and the dipole picture in the target frame, is given, accompanied by a description of the models to which the data are compared.

Neutron diffraction [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1949
The problem of neutron diffraction by crystals is treated by analogy with X-ray diffraction, consideration being given to the perfect crystal, the mosaic crystal and the powdered block. The first part of the paper deals with a comparison between X-ray and neutron diffraction and it is shown that quantitatively the two are similar, apart ...

Squiral Diffraction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Thue-Morse system is a paradigm of singular continuous diffraction in one dimension. Here, we consider a planar system, constructed by a bijective block substitution rule, which is locally equivalent to the squiral inflation rule. For balanced weights, its diffraction is purely singular continuous. The diffraction measure is a two-dimensional Riesz

Subwavelength diffraction management [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2008
We study light propagation in nanoscale periodic structures composed of dielectric and metal in the visible range. We demonstrate that diffraction can be tailored both in magnitude and in sign by varying the geometric features of the waveguides. Diffraction management on a subwavelength scale is demonstrated by numerical solution of Maxwell equations ...

Diffraction before destruction [PDF]

open access: yesPhilosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences, 2013
X-ray free-electron lasers have opened up the possibility of structure determination of protein crystals at room temperature, free of radiation damage. The femtosecond-duration pulses of these sources enable diffraction signals to be collected from samples at doses of 1000 MGy or higher.

Diffraction propagation of vortex diffractals

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2021
Abstract A brief retrospective analysis of studies of fractal light radiation is carried out. To assess the prospects of this scientific direction, new original results of studying the diffraction propagation of vortex wave beams with a fractal structure (vortex diffractals) are also presented.

INCLUSIVE DIFFRACTION [PDF]

open access: yesNew Trends in HERA Physics 2005, 2006
Results are given on the measurements of the hard diffractive interactions at HERA $ep$ collider. The structure of the diffractive exchange in terms of partons and the factorisation properties are discussed, in particular by comparing the QCD predictions for dijets and $D^*$ with measurements both in the photo and electroproduction regimes.
