Diffraction-Enhanced Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Radiology Reports, 2014
Diffraction-enhanced imaging (DEI), sometimes referred to as analyzer-based imaging, is an emerging phase contrast X-ray imaging modality that generates exquisite soft tissue contrast at a vastly reduced absorbed radiation dose relative to absorption-based radiography for imaging applications, which include mammography and assessment of cartilage and ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Orbital angular momentum 25 years on [invited] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Twenty-five years ago Allen, Beijersbergen, Spreeuw, and Woerdman published their seminal paper establishing that light beams with helical phase-fronts carried an orbital angular momentum. Previously orbital angular momentum had been associated only with

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Coherent Diffractive Imaging Using Randomly Coded Masks

open access: yes, 2015
Coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) provides new opportunities for high resolution X-ray imaging with simultaneous amplitude and phase contrast. Extensions to CDI broaden the scope of the technique for use in a wide variety of experimental geometries and ...

When holography meets coherent diffraction imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Modern imaging techniques at the molecular scale rely on utilizing novel coherent light sources like X-ray free electron lasers for the ultimate goal of visualizing such objects as individual biomolecules rather than crystals. Here, unlike in the case of

Non-diffractive computational ghost imaging [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
Computational ghost imaging (CGI) enables an image to be recorded using a single-pixel detector. The image can be reconstructed from correlations between the scene and a series of known projected intensity patterns. In this work we investigate the performance of CGI using pseudo non-diffracting (ND) speckle patterns. We demonstrate an extended depth-of-

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Aberration Theoretical Principle of Broadband Multilayer Refractive–Diffractive Optical Elements by Polychromatic Integral Aberration Method

open access: yesPhotonics
Multilayer diffractive optical elements (MLDOEs), which have broadband imaging performance, are widely used in lightweight and compact optical systems on the surface of the refractive lenses forming refractive–diffractive lenses.

Experiment with a diffractive lens with a fixed focus position at several given wavelengths [PDF]

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика, 2020
The paper presents results of the experimental investigation of “spectral” diffractive lenses the same focus position for several given wavelengths. Two spectral diffractive lenses designed to focus radiation of three and five specified wavelengths in ...
