A diffusion approximation and numerical methods for adaptive neuron models with stochastic inputs [PDF]
Characterizing the spiking statistics of neurons receiving noisy synaptic input is a central problem in computational neuroscience. Monte Carlo approaches to this problem are computationally expensive and often fail to provide mechanistic insight. Thus,

On the Poisson Equation and Diffusion Approximation. I [PDF]
The authors consider the Poisson equation \(Lu=-f\) in the entire \(d\)-dimensional space. \(L\) denotes a second-order elliptic differential operator which is the generator of a positive recurrent diffusion process \(X\). The function \(f\) is assumed to be centred with respect to the invariant measure of \(X\).

Approximation models for the evaluation of TCP/AQM networks [PDF]
The article proposes a model in which Diffusion Approximation is used to analyse the TCP/AQM transmission mechanism in a multinode computer network. In order to prevent traffic congestion, routers implement AQM (Active Queue Management) algorithms.

Time-Inhomogeneous Feller-Type Diffusion Process in Population Dynamics
The time-inhomogeneous Feller-type diffusion process, having infinitesimal drift α(t)x+β(t) and infinitesimal variance 2r(t)x, with a zero-flux condition in the zero-state, is considered.

Optimized diffusion approximation [PDF]
We show that the diffusion approximation (DA) to the radiative transport equation, which is commonly used in biomedical optics to describe propagation of light in tissues, contains a previously unexplored adjustable parameter. This parameter is related to the rate of exponential decay of the reduced intensity.

Diffusion approximation is an important approximation used to model a nuclear reactor core with a quite good accuracy and less computational cost. This approximation has been used widely around the globe for various kinds of nuclear reactors.
