A brain-inspired approach for SAR-to-optical image translation based on diffusion models

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) plays a crucial role in all-weather and all-day Earth observation owing to its distinctive imaging mechanism. However, interpreting SAR images is not as intuitive as optical images.

Squeezed Diffusion Models

open access: yesCoRR
Diffusion models typically inject isotropic Gaussian noise, disregarding structure in the data. Motivated by the way quantum squeezed states redistribute uncertainty according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, we introduce Squeezed Diffusion Models (SDM), which scale noise anisotropically along the principal component of the training ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Shape reconstruction within an optical diffusion model

open access: yes, 2016
Shape reconstruction with an optical diffuser has some significant advantages such as high-precision depth estimation with a small lens, depth estimation for distant objects, and less sensitivity to lens aberrations.

Fine-Grained Human Hair Segmentation Using a Text-to-Image Diffusion Model

open access: yesIEEE Access
Human hair segmentation is essential for face recognition and for achieving natural transformation of style transfer. However, it remains a challenging task due to the diverse appearances and complex patterns of hair in image. In this study, we propose a

A Flexible Diffusion Model

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
Diffusion (score-based) generative models have been widely used for modeling various types of complex data, including images, audios, and point clouds. Recently, the deep connection between forward-backward stochastic differential equations (SDEs) and diffusion-based models has been revealed, and several new variants of SDEs are proposed (e.g., sub-VP,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A Combined Diffusion Model and Reinforcement Learning Approach for Solving the Vehicle Routing Problem With Multiple Soft Time Windows

open access: yesIEEE Access
The Vehicle Routing Problem with Multiple Soft Time Windows (VRPMSTW) is a challenging combinatorial optimization problem where a fleet of vehicles must deliver goods to a set of customers, adhering to time windows while minimizing costs.

Autoregressive Diffusion Models

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
We introduce Autoregressive Diffusion Models (ARDMs), a model class encompassing and generalizing order-agnostic autoregressive models (Uria et al., 2014) and absorbing discrete diffusion (Austin et al., 2021), which we show are special cases of ARDMs under mild assumptions. ARDMs are simple to implement and easy to train. Unlike standard ARMs, they do

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
