An Edible H2O2 Biosensor for Gastrointestinal Metabolites and Peroxidase Enzyme Quantification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present an edible biosensor for gastric fluid analysis that integrates a caffeic acid–horseradish peroxidase redox system into an edible electrolyte‐gated transistor. The device enables rapid, low‐volume detection of H2O2 and, with minimal modification, metabolites and enzyme activity in simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

Fluorescent Nanosensor for Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Detection in Gut Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a fluorescent nanosensor system with two optical modalities for detection of indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) gut metabolite: (1) blue‐emitting cationic conjugated polyelectrolyte (CP3) and (2) near‐infrared (NIR)‐emitting CP3‐wrapped single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT).

Infusible Extracellular Matrix Biomaterial Enhances Cell‐Specific Pro‐Repair Responses Following Acute Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We measure the cell‐specific responses of administering infusible ECM (iECM) in acute myocardial infarction (MI) across multiple timepoints. Using single‐nucleus RNA sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, we measure macrophage activation, fibroblast remodeling, increased vascular development, lymphangiogenesis, cardioprotection, and neurogenesis ...

A Scientific Review of the Impact of UK Ruminant Livestock on Greenhouse Gas Emissions [PDF]

open access: yes
Climate change is a subject of global environmental concern. The UK has seen a progressive strengthening of political resolve to address the problems associated with emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs), principally carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4 ...

Enhancement of Anaerobic Digestion with Nanomaterials

open access: yes
In recent years, the number of articles reporting the addition of nanomaterials to enhance the process of anaerobic digestion has exponentially increased. The benefits of this addition can be observed from different aspects: an increase in biogas production, enrichment of methane in biogas, elimination of foaming problems, a more stable and robust ...

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) in Tendon Regeneration: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) offers a promising solution by replicating the native tendon microenvironment and promoting regeneration. This review highlights advances in the decellularization methods, as well as their integration with emerging technologies and translational progress in tendon tissue engineering.
