New Digisonde for research and monitoring applications
Radio Science, 2009The new Digisonde‐4D, while preserving the basic principles of the Digisonde family, introduces important hardware and software changes that implement the latest capabilities of new digital radio frequency (RF) circuitry and embedded computers. The “D” refers to digital transmitters and receivers in which no analog circuitry is used for conversion ...

Comparison between IRI predictions and digisonde measurements at Tucumán
Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2007Abstract Several parameters, critical frequency foF2, total electron content (TEC), F2 layer peak height hmF2, and slab thickness τ are measured with a Digisonde 256 and compared with IRI 2001 predictions for Tucuman during quiet days in 2003. The comparisons between experimental and predicted diurnal curves for different seasons show a strong ...

Vertical electron density profiles from the Digisonde network
Advances in Space Research, 1996Abstract The global Digisonde network provides a vast volume of ionogram-derived electron density profile data from some 50 stations. The current true height inversion program NHPC differs significantly from the original algorithms developed for real time calculation on PC 286 machines. NHPC successfully inverts about 90% of the autoscaled ionograms.

Digisonde Drift Analysis Software
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008This paper introduces a newly developed conceptual Java-based software package for the digisonde drift data analysis and visualization. This package replaced the less versatile Fortran-based applications previously developed at UMLCAR. A dedicated database intended for raw and processed drift data storage, access, and exchange has also been established
