Estimation of Minkowski tensors from digital grey-scale images

open access: yes, 2014
It has been shown that local algorithms based on grey-scale images sometimes lead to asymptotically unbiased estimators for surface area and integrated mean curvature. This paper extends the results to estimators for Minkowski tensors.

Analysis of tissue surrounding thyroid nodules by ultrasound digital images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Since US is not easily reproducible, the digital image analysis (IA) has been proposed so that the image evaluation is not subjective. In fact, IA meets the criteria of objectivity, accurateness, and reproducibility by a matrix of pixels whose value is ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Digital Image Copyright Protection and Management Approach—Based on Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain Technology

open access: yesJournal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research
The issue of image copyright infringement is prevalent in current e-commerce activities. Users employ methods such as image cropping, compression, and noise addition, making it difficult for traditional copyright detection technologies to identify and ...

Adenosine‐to‐inosine editing of miR‐200b‐3p is associated with the progression of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A‐to‐I editing of miRNAs, particularly miR‐200b‐3p, contributes to HGSOC progression by enhancing cancer cell proliferation, migration and 3D growth. The edited form is linked to poorer patient survival and the identification of novel molecular targets.

A Slope Structural Plane Extraction Method Based on Geo-AINet Ensemble Learning with UAV Images

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
In the construction of large-scale water conservancy and hydropower transportation projects, the rock mass structural information is often used to evaluate and analyze various engineering geological problems such as high and steep slope stability, dam ...

Effects of common image manipulations on diagnostic performance in digital pathology: human study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A very recent work of Ref.[1] studied the effects of image manipulation and image degradation on the perceived attributes of image quality (IQ) of digital pathology slides.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Medical image enhancement using threshold decomposition driven adaptive morphological filter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
One of the most common degradations in medical images is their poor contrast quality. This suggests the use of contrast enhancement methods as an attempt to modify the intensity distribution of the image.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...
