Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Sustainability for digital libraries [PDF]

open access: yesLibrary Review, 2004
Economic sustainability is a pressing concern for many digital library projects. One key to achieving economic sustainability is to make the digital library an integral part of its parent organisation. This can be done by having a sound product, launched at the right stage, and valued by users.

Identification and Reversible Optical Switching of NV+ Centers in Diamond

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NV+ centers in diamond are predicted to coexist with NV0 and NV– centers, but direct experimental confirmation remains challenging. Using positron annihilation spectroscopy with in situ light illumination, a charge transition NV+/0 is observed at 1.234(8) eV.

Breaking the Capacity Limit for WO3 Anode‐Based Li‐Ion Batteries Using Photo‐Assisted Charging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This image illustrates a photo‐assisted rechargeable lithium‐ion battery. (a) shows the battery structure, where light enhances electron‐hole generation in the anode, boosting ion flow. (b) compares discharging performance, revealing over 60% higher capacity under light compared to dark conditions, showcasing the benefit of light‐assisted energy ...

Rural public libraries and digital inclusion: : issues and challenges

open access: yes, 2014
Rural public libraries have been relatively understudied when compared to public libraries as a whole. Data are available to show that rural libraries lag behind their urban and suburban counterparts in technology service offerings, but the full meaning ...

Investigating Language Skills and Field of Knowledge on Multilingual Information Access in Digital Libraries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Library Systems, 2010
Digital libraries remove physical barriers to accessing information, but the language barrier still remains due to multilingual collections and the linguistic diversity of users.

Versatile Green Transfer of Magnetoelectronics with Loss‐Free Performance and High Adhesion for Interactive Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An environmentally friendly transfer printing method of nm‐thick giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensors is demonstrated. This method, relying on water and biocompatible polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymer without the need of complex treatments, allows transferring thin films to a wide range of biological, organic, and inorganic substrates.

A Model Based on Fuzzy Linguistic Information to Evaluate the Quality of Digital Libraries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Information Technology and Decision Making, 2010
The Web is changing the information access processes and it is one of the most important information media. Thus, the developments on the Web are having a great influence over the developments on others information access instruments as digital libraries.

Eco‐Fabricated Nanowave‐Textured Implants Drive Microtubule‐Assisted Nuclear Mechanotransduction and Chromatin Modification: Biophysical Priming for Osteogenesis and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Eco‐friendly nanowave‐textured implants produced via femtosecond laser fabrication enhance bone regeneration by orchestrating a precise mechanotransduction cascade. This nanotopography directs mesenchymal stem cell alignment and cytoskeletal organization, triggering changes in nuclear shape and chromatin acetylation that prime cells for osteogenesis ...
