Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Attention-Driven Alaryngeal Speech Enhancement via Discrete Representation Learning and Timbre-Preserving Augmentation

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society
Alaryngeal speech enhancement seeks to restore intelligibility and naturalness for individuals who have undergone laryngectomy. Existing methods based on direct spectral mapping or frame-level voice conversion fail to exploit speech's linguistic ...

Spatialization of Digital Platforms

open access: yesSocial Media + Society
This article challenges the common tendency to pinpoint a “nationality” to a multi-national capitalist platform company. It calls for a close examination of how platform companies, as capitalist enterprises, organize themselves legally and spatially. The article first reviews how platforms have been studied in relation to space. I then use the case of

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Deep Learning Approaches for Classifying Crack States With Overload and Predicting Fatigue Parameters in a Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
Crack retardation, commonly observed in metals under overload, helps extend fatigue life. Conventional methods for modeling behavior under variable loading are labor‐intensive and sensitive to measurement errors because they rely on cycle‐by‐cycle crack ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
