Wideband platform for digital predistortion validation

2011 International Conference on Electronics, Communications and Control (ICECC), 2011
To accurately observe the characteristic, or behavior, of the PA, the test platform is required to have enough bandwidth and dynamic range. Digital processing techniques for extending the dynamic range and bandwidth of the measurement instruments are discussed.

A Hybrid Domain Framework for Predistorter Modeling and Adaptive Digital Predistortion Realization

2020 China Semiconductor Technology International Conference (CSTIC), 2020
In this paper, we propose a hybrid domain framework to model the predistorter (PD) of a power amplifier (PA). It is available for obtaining the PD not only through a PA model but also a PA circuit on ADS. Simulation results show that with predistortion, the NMSE of the linearity can reach -50 dB and the ACPR can reduce around 17dB.

Components for Superconductor Digital-RF Predistorter

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 2009
HYPRES is developing a superconductor digital-RF predistorter for direct linearization of radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers. The predistorter utilizes proportional (P), squared integral (I) and differential (D) corrections. We report progress in the proportional component implementation. We designed, fabricated and tested a 4-to-16 decoder, a 16-to-

Digital predistortion linearization of frequency multipliers

IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2003, 2003
This paper presents a novel technique to linearize frequency multipliers for use with modulated signals. Using amplitude and phase mapping functions, a modulated signal may be translated to an integer multiple of the carrier frequency with minimal distortion.

Adaptive baseband digital predistorter suitable for wideband signals

The 14th International Conference on Microelectronics,, 2004
In this paper, we present a new topology for an adaptive baseband digital predistorter suitable for wideband signals. The proposed predistorter is composed of a cascade of a fixed LUT based predistorter and an adaptive linear subband filter's bank. The linear subband filters serve to compensate for the dependency of the RF power amplifier behavior on ...

Digital predistortion for power amplifiers

The power amplier (PA) is one of the most critical subsystems in wireless (and wired) trans- mitters. Not only is it one of the most power hungry devices that accounts for most of the direct current (DC) power consumed in macro base stations, but also it is the main source of nonlinear distortion in the transmitter.

Optimization of Digital Predistortion with Memory

2018Systems of Signal Synchronization, Generating and Processing in Telecommunications (SYNCHROINFO), 2018
In this paper identification of the digital predistortion (DPD) operator for power amplifier (PA) linearization is considered. Improving the identification performance generally amounts to finding the appropriate reduced-complexity parametrized model of memory nonlinearity and to avoid ill-conditionality of the corresponding LS problem.

Digital predistortion with low-precision ADCs

2017 51st Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2017
Digital Predistortion (DPD) is a popular technique for linearizing a power amplifier (PA) to help reduce the spurious emissions and spectral regrowth. DPD requires the learning of the inverse PA nonlinearities by training on the output of the PA. In practical systems, the analog output of the PA will have to go through an analog-to-digital converter ...

Digital subband filtering predistorter architecture for wireless transmitters

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2005
In this paper, a new architecture for baseband digital predistortion dedicated to wide-band transmissions is presented. The proposed predistorter consists of a cascade of a static lookup-table-based predistorter and a subband filtering block. The subband filtering technique is used to improve the correction bandwidth limitation of conventional ...

Linearization of Microwave Emitters using an Adaptive Digital Predistorter

27th European Microwave Conference, 1997, 1997
Adaptive digital predistortion for nonlinear power amplifier (PA) became one of the most robust linearization techniques that can be implemented in digital signal processors (DSP) environment. However, its precision compensation for AM-AM and AM-PM distortion is wasted when the quadrature modulator (QM) impairments are not to be considered.
